  My favorite uncle passed away

  hi everyone - i don't post here often, but i need some help.

  i just received a letter from my (jw) parents, informing me that my (jw) uncle has passed away.

  he was my favorite uncle who could always make me laugh.

  I am sorry for your loss.

  Writing is a good way to express your feelings, and to retain your memories. Perhaps it will help you too, if you went to a beautiful place where you could read your letter out loud. Kind of a memorial service held by you - for your favorite uncle.

  I understand your feeling of not wanting to subject your children to the shunning. But if you feel you need to pay your respects by attending the funeral ... You must go. The JW's may not talk to you - but that is of no concern, the funeral will be between you and your uncle. Perhaps you can find someon to watch over your children and just take your hubby with you. What ever you do - remember and make sure it is what you feel good about.

  Nope, not anymore.

  I used to be quite the obsessed aposate tho, owned and wore a collection of crosses for the pure intention of shocking every JW who was unfortunate to cross my path. Right now I am reasonable balances tho. That is, all my obsessions and ticks have nothing to do with JW's

  I will not pretend to know what you should do in this case, as I do not know the details, nor people involved.

  But, you say you do not who you are - and that is quite normal. Especially if you have been pulled on for a long time, and if you wish to please everyone around you - a person can get lost. Maybe it will help you if you can get professional help, just someone to talk to - where you do not feel you need to protect someone else's feelings and can just consider your own.

  For now, trust your intellectual judgement. Emotionally this can be hard, as you describe a mourning feeling when this involves not trusting someone - whom you would rather trust. Your intellect is something to rely on, where your emotions can be clouded.

  i'll make the start: after years of fading, my believing wife stopped attending the meetings also and i no longer have to be careful about what i'm talking about when hanging around with the rest of my jw friends.

  for me this is quite an achievement and i'm happy with it.. .

  I just came back from hospital. Had a horrible examn but after much crying and pleading and threathening to walk out - they did give inject some drugs into my veins (otherwise and normally I'd have to be awake for it) to put me under.

  So, me is happy

  Even now I still suffer from Demon-phobia at night anyone else?? {Bump??}

  things that go bump in the night still force me to get out of bed and check them out even though at 35 i know it's just the house rafters shifting, temperature changes etc...sometimes i wake up to see strange shapes in my room...switch on the light and it's my jacket.

  i think the witnesses have conditioned me to believe in demons on a sub-conscious level.

  i know they are not real...but i still check.

  Had demons haunting me for over 2 years after I left. There are even some topics I made regarding that. It took me some time, some incense and some good vibes to get over it.

  In short - give it time, your mind needs to heal from the brainwashing.
