  hey mate, don't mean to pick on you, but i know you are a good sport.

  ;) to all other non-believers, this thread is also for you..

  it seems you always want proof and evidence of some kind of afterlife, but always have a "reasonable explanation" for any evidence put forth.

  though I certainly hope it will let you become a little more open minded and encouraged about the great beyond.

  i don't consider myself close-minded concerning this stuff, but i am extremely skeptical. there's a big difference.

  here are my a couple of my questions:

  why does the spirit never give its name? why does it never use yours? are the predictions ever truly falsifiable? (in the first reading, he added that if the dogs had no connection, the reading probably just wasn't for you...the reading itself wouldn't be wrong, just the recipient)

  i used to come up with all kinds of things to do to pass the time during meetings and especially conventions.

  i would resort to counting ceiling tiles sometimes or go over movies in my head line for line.

  what did y'all do to beat the doldrum?

  man i didn't realize how tough it is to not to lose your mind and get dogmatic while talking with jay-dubs a while ago.

  just hearing those stupid answers, seeing the blank looks, and being called an apostate whenever they are cornered is soooo frustrating!!

  have you guys had experiences like that too?

  i usually get nice and drunk before attempting a conversation. doesn't do much for my arguments, but at least their stupidity doesn't get to me!

  i called my dad a few weeks ago (first time i've spoken to the old man in probably close to 3 years). i was super drunk. it went awesome!...i think!

  i had a friend who was d'fd bc he had sex on the beach, not the drink hehehe. so he came back and became more attractive. the bad boy stigma you know. later on when he was married he told me that was the best thing that ever happened to him. before he wasn't attractive being the good ole jw but now he was after being reestablished was found to be interesting to the sisters.

  that is so unbelievably pathetic. not to sound overly stereotypical, but this is the impression that i got from almost all of the young, single JW girls that i grew up with. it's one of the main reasons i was attracted to a non-witness.

  jeez...sometimes after a kid leaves highschool, the highschool just doesn't wanna leave the kid.

  Question for Jehovah's witnesses?

  i was reading through a christian forum and there was a thread that someone had started speaking of the trinity.

  when i say trinity i mean the father, son, and holy ghost\spirit trinity.

  anyrate, sose about a hundred or so post into that thread someone mentioned that jehovah's witnesses don't believe in the trinity.

  Thank you for the replies, but you know, this site name doesn't indicate that this site is for ex-jw's?

  i believe that the logo says "everyone welcome!" that pretty much says it all. the gentleman that started this site was a JW at the time so that explains the name. i still think the name applies, although a bit more ironically.

  if you choose not to believe this is something i would like for god to ask you about when you see god

  you and me both buddy. i've got a couple questions myself.

  I would like to return here to some human kindness and cooperation in the future to guide me on my journey of seeking the truth.

  well, i dunno...it looks like that was extended to you at the start of this thread. if this thread is an example of how you usually respond to human kindness, then you may find it in short supply.

  firpo carr argues that while many white apostates claim to highlight so-called 'racist' remarks and terminology in the watchtower literature, most such apostates are in fact white and have little real interest in black issues.

  they are only interested in the issue in so far as they can use it to promote white anti-witness propaganda, whereas a high percentage of loyal witnesses are black.

  i know that all the terms of my topic are debatable: apostacy is a witness term of derogation; apostates probably are mostly liberal and not racist (essentially); and they are not a 'movement' in any case.

  in his talk he said two very interesting things:.

  Its like cutting the letters out of a magazine and pasting them together to form words...

  when me and my brothers were little kids, during the meetings we would open the bible so it would look like we were paying attention and then point to words or parts of words or letters to make sentences. it was mostly stuff like, "YOU R A BUTT." yeah, i don't know why this reminded me of that, but i'm glad it did

  Where did you read this? Fun to have read this...

  this was in carl sagan's Demon Haunted World. he wrote it in 97 or 98 so the figures may be a little dated.
