  My thoughts on these guys:

  • I like their concept of God - advanced, intelligent life that created life here as a project. I dunno...somehow I can buy into that easier than the omniscient, omnipotent supernatural God of the Bible. The idea that life as we know it in this part of the universe started by advanced life forms from another part of the universe doesn't seem like an impossible feat to me at all. There MUST be something out there somewhere. I can't say I believe that's what happened - I'm just open to the idea of it.
  • I'm very wary to believe any concept that involves the following of a man or group of men because they have been "chosen." After reading the whole site, I was amazed at how well thought-out everything was - it's a great story and actually made me think about a few things. Like I can totally understand how ancient humankind would call extraterrestial life "God" or refer to a group of them as "Gods." But it just seems like there would be concrete proof of aliens by now if they really existed. It's really something to think about though - if the government did have concrete proof of aliens, if they released this to the public, there's no telling what the reaction would be. At any rate, until they come take over the world, I have no choice but to think there are none to be concerned about. Seeing is believing, right? I don't see how anyone can proof there are none either. Just because we've never seen them doesn't prove anything.

  I find no harm in this concept though - unlike the JW's. It's not a philosophy that's crammed down your throat - there's nothing there saying you'll die if you don't join (if my memory serves correctly)....definitely interesting reading material IMO to stretch your mind out into other concepts.

  according to your teachings, believers, just so he can stroke himself and show how man has failed.

  in fact believers will read this stuff and shrug it off because in the future god will fix it it and it just proves why we need god..

  Actually, MY God did intervene... on my behalf. He has... and still does. Whenever I call on Him to do so. Why? Because I am in a COVENANT where He has obligated Himself to do so! I keep my part; He keeps his. But I cannot see where you... or any others who wrongly accuse Him... show Him OBLIGATED to intervene on behalf of everyone.

  So is it safe to conclude that from your point of view, if you believe in God and are faithful to him, he will intervene and protect you from atrocities? Jehovah the God of Israel protected his people from harm, yet I don't see Him doing so for any earthly organization professing to serve him today. There are tons of honest-hearted Christians and other denominations in existence today that profess exclusive devotion to their God, yet tragedies happen to them too. So where's the protection for believing? Where's the reward? The reward is faith in going down in the books as being righteous when it's all over? It all boils down to blind faith IMO

  If you've touched on this already in previous posts, I apologize - I read the whole thing and this is the only point that stood out as being unclear....

  i have a question for anyone wanting to share their own experiences: have you been swindled or conned this year or previously?

  Lessons I've learned:

  1. NEVER buy from an unrated user on any online auction. I got ripped off by an identity theft. If the seller does not want to take steps to ensure his legitimacy, do not trust him/her.
  2. Do not trust "friends" with your personal belongings or possessions. Most people in the borg are honest-hearted, but that's not the case in the "world." You really have to pick and choose your associates - most with unstable lifestyles are prone to be untrustworthy; such has been my experience at least.
  3. Do not trust the Service Department of any automobile dealership. :-P It's better to find a trustworthy local mechanic for out of warranty issues. Dealerships will try to convince you something more is wrong with your car. They are very greedy for money and will take advantage of those who are not mechanically inclined. If you're not mechanically inclined and wish to work through a dealer, take someone with you that knows about cars.
  4. When making an agreement with someone that involves a significant amount of money, ALWAYS sign a contract.

  Just a few pointers. Hope they help....

  rather than focus on ted jarasz of the watchtower's gov body being openly accused as a child molestor and the like, some fruitcakes falsely claimed bill bowen, (the exposer of the wt's pedophile coverup policy) attacked ray franz and just today hint that perhaps he sabotaged his own silentlambs.org website.

  they also try to plant seeds of jealousy against bill bowen.

  this is a clear effort to try to play bill bowen against franz (both of whom oppose watchtower tyranny) and to destroy silentlambs.

  is this not "terror" in itself?

  at what point is it acceptable for the american people to allow such actions to be committed against fellow american citizens simply because these people are of arab descent?

  The problem is that your whole argument is based upon the premise that the terrorists need more recruits in order to do us harm. That is absolutely false. They have done an enormous amount of harm with a relatively tiny number of operatives, and will continue to do so, unless we stop them

  Would have to agree with Focus actually.

  Since the "War on Terrorism" has started, it's far more difficult for these guys to carry out their attacks. USA pounded Afghanistan and killed tons of terrorists and captured tons more. Others were so frightened they surrendered. So although they are still in operation, no doubt they are looking for as many contributors as possible to help them carry out their plan. Unfortunately this is not a war of simple manpower, for we have them far outnumbered. For them to be successful, it will take well-thought out plans operated by highly trained individuals who are willing to give their lives for the cause. I'd bet you bottom dollar they are trying as hard as possible to recruit as many of these individuals as possible, especially seeing how a lot of the top officials have been arrested or killed recently.

  Reading this thread has stirred up many emotions. Part of me feels sorry for any and every Arab-American right now for the reality of the world conditions must be constantly in their face every time they step out into the public scene. I'm sure they hear harsh remarks or get angry looks at times, and that must be very difficult to deal with. The other part of me is deeply saddened for it realizes that America is really only trying to protect itself from Islamic militants - idealistically it's not a racial thing at all. I want to believe that the government would live up to their word and only arrest those that have committed crimes or over-stayed their VISA, but due to the track record of this country, I cannot place 100% trust in that statement. Surely the same racist "turban-head" attitude that has infiltrated so many citizens of this country is also present amongst the leaders of this country, therefore the possibilities of these arrests taking place exactly like we've been told is quite unlikely. Racism is still a big problem in this country, and although we've made huge progress in the right direction, a very strong, powerful influence still exists today, and frankly..... it scares the hell out of me.

  I find it extremely disturbing that the law in this certain part of Texas could be so corrupt and racist.

  I also find it disturbing that the current president and his family is from this state.

  Not to mention that to this day the state of Texas has not apologized for wrongfully sending this innoncent black man to death row - imprisoned for 10 years. Thank GOODNESS he was re-tried and found not-guilty and released days before his death.

  Surely you'd think the President of the United States would condemn such a blatant example of racism within his own home state and apologize to this man and his family.

  (Note that the movie stated that nobody has apologized - whether or not that is true or still remains to be true is a different story. Take it for what it's worth......)

  SO...yeah...I know the government is really concerned about protecting the country, and believe me, their efforts are greatly appreciated, but I hate to see innoncent people affected by their plight to find terrorists. It would be wise for them to make this known to American Arabs - let them know that they respect their rights and are truly trying to weed out the terrorists that unfornately are predominantly of their religion and race. Try to get them to HELP - don't give them any reason to hate. However, due to the strong racists attitudes amongst prominent officials in this country, I doubt that will happen.

  an interesting story on david duke appeared in yesterday's paper.. "david duke, the former kkk leader and politicians who spent the past three years preaching 'white survival,' pleaded guilty wednesday to bilking his supporters and cheating on his taxes.

  duke, 52, could get up to 15 months in prison and $10,000 in fines under a plea bargain reached with federal prosecutors.

  he is free on bail until his sentencing march 19. the plea to felony charges also disqualifies duke from running for public office again.".

  oh now come on..........this forum is seriously losing credibilty..............are you seriously accusing 5 members on the governing body of child abuse?.....ok, many of you had bad experiences with the jw faith and i don't mean to be-little that, but how far will some of you go?

  sometimes i wonder if your motives are quite right, you know this echos much of what i felt about how some jumped on the franz/bowen bandwagon in the last few days, from what i read bill bowen seemed to be adulated here, then bam!

  he stepped onto ray franz ' turf.....and all hell broke loose.

  Yeah Scooby, the GB could NEVER be guilty of such accusations. I don't know what these people are thinking. They are appointed by GOD and are infallible. They only look like imperfect humans, but they're not really. They govern a perfect organization that is always 100% correct, and it's the only earthly organization that has perfect human members that never sin or commit crimes.

  The reality is that accusations have been made by more than 1 person. Are they fabricated or the truth? Obviously some will think they are, others not. Until they are proven true, we can't say with certainty these unfortunate events occured, but looking at the JW history of child abuse, nothing would surprise me to be honest.

  The truth will come out sooner or later. No need to try fire people up on this for it is a very touchy subject. Imagine how hurtful your words are to the victims IF it is true. Seems better to me to hold your tongue until after it's proven false, if it is false....don't put so much blind faith in imperfect men, my friend...
