  firstly, thank god i found this forum!

  i've spent the better part of today while my kids were in school reading many threads.. some background...i am in my mid 30s, married, 2 kids.

  i was born and raised a jw...came from "good" stock...elders, pioneers, etc.

  This is my first JWN post since being able to register. I do know OTWO and osme others from meetup groups, but I'm always looking to meet new ones or reconnect with others I may not know have left.

  Looking forward to some bigger meetup groups here.

  The point for me was always the ridiculous reasons and backtracking for the JW ban. I want qualified, experienced medical experts making the decisions for me and my children - not some ever changing religious policy. If my doctors think bloodless is the way to, so be it. However if blood is the best option for survival and safety, then give me that. Let me make the medical decisions for me without the tethers of what 9 men in Brooklyn, NY think this week.

  I was 3rd generation when I left. I felt it was too complicated to try the fade with my situation so I just DA'd.
  
  Do I regret it? No! True, it has brought with it different problems (loss of family, friends) and I occasionally get down, but I have never once felt going back was better. My children get the benefit of growing up normal because I got us off this merry go round before another whole generation was lost.
  
  With that said, I have a lot of respect for Frog and OTWO. They have played the Witness game well and used their own rules on them. It seems like it takes a lot of guts and guile, but it must be worth it for them.
  But please make your decision with confidence and self-respect. THEY are the ones that have lied, misdirected and been duplicitous with us all in the name of trying to hold people in.
  
  Good luck on whatever you do and know you always have people to talk to here.
