Last summer I read the book "Releasing the Bonds - Empowering People to Think for Themselves", by Steve Hassan. I had gotten it at the library so I had to give it back. I recently decided to try and buy it because I wanted on the shelf at my home. When I called Border's books, Barne's and Noble and even Half Price books I soon found out the book is back ordered all over the country. The lady I talked with asked if this had just been on tv or something. I chuckled and said I really didn't think so however, there was a lot of internet work being done which promotes it. How much do you think people trying to leave the "borg" has to do with this backordering?
I don't think it is a myth at all. I have seen it in action among many "worldly" people I have known. One lady told me once that in her family, (nice Catholic family at that), the rule was you are always family. It was VERY important to them and preached often. It didn't matter if someone became a prostitute or drug dealer, they were still family and would be treated as such. This was tempered of course by preaching of consequences for actions. It seemed to work very well as I met the whole extended family who were very close and happy. All these families I think of put my own Dub family to shame.

i just wish to know does the wts have a deliberate policy of splitting married couples if one of the spouses leaves the org even if adultery is not involved?
do they at least indirectly encourage this to happen?
and if yes is this a fairly recent policy?
There is however the idea of "spiritual endangerment" which is specifically used by the borg as a reason for seperation.
