Why not extend your child's life and take the consequences?

if your son or daughter were badly burned, he or she would require regular whole blood transfusions.

as a good jehovah's witness, it is your duty to refuse this procedure and watch your child die instead.

Good point, but it negates the JW viewpoint that by letting the child die they feel that all of them will be reunited in paradise. Their thoughts aren't about what's good for the kid today. Their doctrine robs them of normal human feelings and replace them with fantasies of playing with pandas together if they forego this ultimately worthless life.

So if you want to ask those questions you probably first have to defuse the bomb that is their belief system that drops on their child. It's hard to use normal human reasoning with abnormal fantasy.

also sometimes this is a way for new people to find it and get help if they want, so here it is.

between this jw life (my first podcast) and shunned we just went over the 40,000 individual download mark, which is pretty cool.. i just released episode sixteen about sydney, and it's a great look into the narcissism and authoritarian nature of the cult.

You're all very welcome. I usually do one episode per month, but I did two in August, and I released this one yesterday, have another coming next weekend from the Midwest Apostafest, and one the weekend after that featuring an Amish woman. So I'll post those up when they come out. I'll go back to one per month in October for a bit in all likelihood, though I'm considering trying two per month. I'm not sure I can keep up that pace though.

Oh geez, the window cleaner slam. That's not quite my business, and you should know since you're all about nitpicky bullshit.

I think you determined what the main point was by taking over his thread. Flight costs for the GB are not the subject of the article linked nor the main part of the original post, though included. You then made it all about that one thing. Thus the talk of derailing the thread. The first two responses didn't seem so hung up on what you did.

It seemed to be a use of hyperbole, like your butthurt comments recently on new boys thread about my mentions of my podcast. I could have shown how wrong you were but you're "that guy" I mentioned earlier. I believe in the last little bit Cofty said "fuck you" to you, snakes let you know how unpleasant you are, and here you go again. You march on to thread after thread and shit on them. Clearly that's your shtick.

That last part was quite clever. You have the ability to be funny, dare I say witty. It's such a waste that it's all delivered in such a bitter and hateful way.

Is there any thread that can't be shit on here by nitpicking at details rather than discussing the actual point of a topic? It's pretty clear that the OP was just pointing out what small potatoes the fine is to an organization like that, and that they were facing it in general. You must be one miserable or insecure dude to jump into thread after thread, often muddying the point by trying to fact check everyone else.

By the way, for the love of the flying spaghetti monster, the word is ridiculous, not rediculous. Thread after thread is nearly unreadable as they are detailed by Mr. "Morphs law", which should actually be that in literally any thread Morpheus may jump in and make it about proving himself right in some small way instead of discussing the topic at hand.

We all know "that guy" that sucks all the air out of a room when he enters, robbing it of free discussion because you're waiting on him to pounce. This is a great example. So much work going into making a nothing point. It's exhausting to read on here lately.

Why does it affect us so deeply?

i was having a great chat with a valued friend and fellow forum member today on the phone.. we were discussing how deeply we all get affected by jw interactions - even years after fading or disassociating.. you know what i mean.

those days when we run into jws who we considered to be our close friends.

or "loving shepherds" who don't act kindly.

Oh yeah, being a JW was our being. How meta is that, lol. Anyway, it was our very identity, and for many of us that included our formative years and maybe even the majority of our years. We still have family stuck in it. It's hard to leave that all behind, not to mention a faith that told us we'd never die and could one day have a panda.

It is funny how we did take a stand for truth and it gets us kicked out of "The Truth®".

Bumped Into One Of My Best Friends On The Carts This Morning

so this morning i'm walking to my office and there's the jws on their carts outside as usual.

and old sister, a brother in his 20s and an elder i instantly recognized from my jw days.

one of my best friends of about 20 years.. i genuinely just wanted to say hi as i havent seen him in 3 years.

It's all your fault that they have to do this awful shunning thing. How dare you write those articles in the cult literature that interpret scripture a certain way? To top it off, you wrote them such that if people don't follow your words to shun then they might get shunned too. Evil man, just evil. It's clearly all your fault.

Sorry man, you probably knew the outcome but it still stings on a level. They are so brainwashed and they just can't see it. I couldn't, and neither could most of us, when we were in.

I too enjoyed your comment on being Christ-like. You handled it well. They want you to see them, feel shame, and slink away. You stood up like an adult human and made them act like children.
