Can you define the difference between worshipping god and serving god? To me they amount to the same thing. It's just that every different religion gives you a different set of rules to live your life by.

Count-Down 9: The Meaning of Life
by Amazing ini can recall a number of jw articles talking about the meaning of life - of course that meant doing something the watchtower said would make you happy, like selling magazines door to door .
i love what my oldest son once said: "i don't look for the meaning of life ... rather ... i create my own meaning.
" that is my son.

Memorial 2007
by Ténébreux inwell i just got back from the memorial, after being dragged along somewhat reluctantly.
during the talk, one statement in particular caught my attention which i hadn't heard previously.
the speaker was explaining why probably no-one there should be partaking of the matzo and wine, because on the night of the passover jesus began selecting his 144000 heavenly co-rulers starting with the 11 apostles who were present - and that from then on, most of jesus' other followers just observed and did not partake, recognizing that they were of the earthly class.

Yes, don't you just LOVE that useful word? They have a few more too! "could be", "seems likely", etc., etc.
Thanks to the WTS I'm very alert to these wonderfully useful phrases. It's amazing where they crop up. Even in scientific writings. As soon as I see any of these little phrases or words I immediately begin doubting. lol

Most annoying Kingdom song
by Billzfan23 inmine would have to be "dark days are here!
men live in fear!....
" followed by the annoying change to a happy beat before the chorus "but the bible gives us a reason for cheer.." .

There were a couple of songs about the youth that I absolutely hated!!!! They seemed to be played at every other meeting. I made sure that our songbooks went in the garbage when we quit.

It's probably only in JW circles that there's any debate. I have no idea what other religions say on the matter. But I'll quote for you the JW reasoning on this.
Insight on the Scriptures Vol.2, Pg. 130;
'Immediately Judas left the group. A comparison of Matthew 26:20-29 with John 13:21-30 indicates that he departed before Jesus instituted the celebration of the Lord's Evening Meal. Luke's presentation of this incident evidentally is not in strict chronological order, for Judas had definitely left by the time Christ commended the group for having stuck with him; that would not fit Judas, nor would he have been taken "into the covenant... for a kingdom." Luke 22:19-30'

That's rough, Mrs. Anti-Christ. I hate it when they use emotional blackmail.

exwitless, I had the same heebeegeebies after my last meeting attendance. Except that I got that creepy feeling while I was in the Hall. I walked out between the Public Talk and Watchtower study and never went back.

AlphaOmega, there's debate over whether Judas was present or not. Some say that he had been dismissed before the ceremony of the bread and wine.
