building commitee
by logic inis anyone familiar with the building commitee?
it appears that alot of hanky panky is going on here.
for instance, i know for a fact that some contractors have arrangements to be paid.

There were a few JWs (well connected) that we knew in the 80s who did quite well economically because of the quick builds. Even though the area was in an economic downturn.
The one that really got me scratching my head was the "interior decorator" who was paid very well. All of his "projects" looked about the same to me.

My Dad died on Friday
by littlemike ini dont often post on here but lurk everday.
i was an elder for 11 years, raised as a witness from birth and eventually left in 2002 aged 42.. my dad died on friday aged 87. he was a witness baptized in 1940. he was congregation servant and then elder in hull, england.. we were arranging his funeral tonight with my 2 brothers who are still witness elders.
all they were interested in was what he had done in the "truth".

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad.
I'm with the majority here. Hold off on sending it. Especially since your kids don't want you to. They'll be affected by it as well. People will still believe what they want to believe.

I've just remembered a scripture that absolutely proves that JWs are Christians. :) From Jesus' own mouth:
Matthew 10:34-36 NWT; 'Do not think I came to put peace upon the earth; I came to put, not peace, but a sword. For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a young wife against her mother-in-law. Indeed, a man's enemies will be persons of his own household.'
They're fulfilling this sign, of being a follower of Christ, very well.

alotlikemay,
Why is this subject bothering you so much? The question isn't "is there any hope for flawed people?", it's "why is King David held up as a great guy?" So, why does it worry you that some of us have the opinion that he wasn't a great guy? He isn't someone that I think should be held up as an example to be followed. As a warning example, yes. But not, an example of good behaviour. So he's sorry when he gets caught. So what, I'm sorry when I get caught too. But I don't think I'm some sort of righteous example because of that.
This is in no way a judgement on people who make mistakes. We all make them. And, the whole point is; David is not a shining beacon of righteousness. He's an ordinary, flawed person like you and I. The fact that I dislike the character portrayed in the stories is besides the point.

DJK, I don't know if they are now using CDs, but they were using tapes and had a new song when we quit. I thought I read somewhere that they were getting another new song book. But I can't be sure on that.
