Is It A Good Thing To Ignore Our JW Past??
by minimus indoes showing our upset or anger regarding our life as witnesses a good thing or a bad thing?
personally, i feel that everyone of us has to express whatever feelings for however long time it takes to heal.
(i'm not talking about carrying the same anger or hurt for 25 years).

Minumus, as usual you have started a cool thread.
No, no, no, heavens no! We should never forget where we have come from lest we find ourselves there again.

I'm "Scurred"
by sandy inok, scared.. i will be having surgery within the next week or two.
the doctors found a large cyst in my pelvic area.
they believe it is on my right ovary but, unfortunately they cannot be sure till they actually cut me open.

Sandy,
just so happens that my wife, Mary, had uterine fibroids and a couple cysts on her ovaries, one of which was the size of baseball when they discovered it.
We only knew this when she acquired the never-ending period and almost bled out, literally. She was working one night and she called me at my work to tell me that she "was not feeling well" and that she thought she should go to the hospital. When I arrived to pick her up, she, who normally has lovely dark olive skin, was white as a ghost. I knew something was seriously wrong with her so we went straight away to the hospital.
Her red blood cell count was down below 10. She should not have been conscious by medical standards, let alone walking around and working.
She is not and never was JW, thank God, but had serious issues about taking another person's blood. She made her decision and told the doctors to do everything they could without transfusing blood. (She also has a very rare blood type)
Her doctor ended up performing a full hysterectomy. Her recovery was speedy and she hasn't felt better in years.
This is pretty routine and common for women, I have been told, and I am sure you will pull through just fine, but please keep us up to date on your condition.
Best Regards,
Corvin

Has this happened to anyone?
by Purza inso my mother opens the door for a discussion (via email) and i totally freeze up.
i find it almost impossible to tell her how i feel about the jw religion.
when i finally figure out what i want to say, she completely dismisses my thoughts.

Indeed! It seems so futile sometimes. I can't stand the glazed look that comes over a JW eyes when they totally miss the point of anything that strays outside the cut and dried, black and white world of the organization.
Even my brother, the former pioneer, while he is out and will never return, his issues are so far from what most of us here know, that I cannot really talk to him about it. He left for some very different reasons and never learned what we all know about the org.
Hang in there.

WTS law and oral law
by lurk inhas the wts commited the same folly as the writers of the oral law?
in a magazine some years ago there was an article on the oral law.
it discribed how the oral law was developed to be like a fence around the writen law to prevent ppl from breaking the writen law.the article showed how the priests, who invented the law ,were laying a burden on jehovahs ppl that the didnt need ,sort of saying how wrong and misdirected the priests were.

I do believe there is a parallel between the Pharisees in Jesus day and the WTBTS. The following is taken from the Watchtower about the Pharisees, but these words aptly apply to the Governing Body as well . . .
***
w99 1/15 p. 26 The Oral Law?Why Was It Put in Writing? ***The Pharisees became the new scholars of the Law, doing the job that they felt the priests were not doing. [In much the same way WTBTS feels about all of Christendom] Since the Mosaic Law did not allow for their authority, they developed new methods of interpreting Scripture through cryptic allusions and by other methods seemingly supporting their views. As the chief caretakers and promoters of these traditions, they created a new base of authority in Israel. [Bethel] By the first century C.E., the Pharisees had become a dominant force in Judaism.
***
w96 1/15 p. 29 Light Ends an Age of Darkness ***The Pharisees originated during the Grecian period as a vigorous reaction to anti-Jewish Hellenism. By Jesus? day, however, they were rigid, tradition-bound, legalistic, proud, self-righteous proselytizers and teachers who sought to control the nation through synagogue instruction. They came mainly from the middle class and disdained the common people. Jesus viewed most Pharisees as self-seeking, merciless money lovers who oozed hypocrisy. (Matthew, chapter 23) They accepted the entire Hebrew Scriptures in the light of their own explanations but attached equal or greater weight to their oral traditions. They said that their traditions were "a fence around the Law." Far from being a fence, however, their traditions invalidated the Word of God and perplexed the public.?Matthew 23:2-4; Mark 7:1, 9-13.
But hey! Who says the WTBTS does not like oral?

"Safest in the middle" and other stupid sayings
by ozziepost inover the years a whole multitude of stupid or just plain illogical sayings have come from kingdom hall platforms.. take this one as an example:.
brother so-an-so is encouraging the congregation to be fully occupied in congregation activity.
you know the drum, don't you?
-
Corvin
Floyd Kyte, a visiting elder giving the publice talk said, "Friends, if you are looking for perfection in Jehovah's organization, you are not going find it. Take a look around and think of the most spiritual person you know in this congregation. Brothers and sisters, even that person still has 1,000 years to go . . . It's been said that 50% of the brothers and sisters in the congregation are here to test the other half . . . some you see sitting here today that you are absolutely sure will make it into the new sytem won't, and some of the ones you think would never make it you will be surprised to see them there . . . "
OMG! Those statements have been the most memorable of all the shyte I heard from the platform and left me wondering about alot. They were made soon after the publication of Ray Franz's first book, Crisis of Conscience.

I recently ordered both Crisis of Conscience and In Search Of Christian Freedom on line. I am nearly finished with COC and I am sooooo glad I began reading it. It would be just another bloatbag xjw complaining and snitching if it weren't for the volumous references and documentation Ray Franz includes.
I never knew the Witnesses had so much experience at predicting things that eventually didnt happen.
Yeah, and to think they never had one lesson!
Not one of their predictions have ever come true.
