Oh yeah, another nice little quirk in the uniform code is that you can threaten to kill your supervisor, even your CO, and be given a section 8 medical with honorable discharge.

Adultery a crime under US Military Justice ?!?
by Simon ini'd never heard of this before ... is it true?
is it regularly invoked or was this just an attempt to charge him with anything and everything and possibly just ruin his reputation?.
"a month later, he faced fresh charges, including adultery - a crime under us military justice ...".

heathen,
I also agree with firstinline that it would be a good idea to make sure the parties involved are not in the same unit
I did not make any such assertion. If it seemed implied by my concerns for political assassination, that is not the case, sorry for the misunderstanding. I dont object to the application of the law to members of the same unit.

For JCanon: Is the Global Flood Feasible (Nice Thread From Another Site)
by SYN in.
i'm having a lot of fun reading the creationists vs. evolutionists argument about the flood here...the evolutionists are thoroughly trouncing the creationists!

Syn,
Creationism and the Flood don't exactly depend on each other. However, you can't just ignore half of Genesis either,
Actually it was like 1 chapter.
That's called SELECTIVE INTERPRETATION!
Interpretation is the key. If the account of the biblical flood is true I suggest that "world" is within the context of the "inhabited earth." The distribution of species also discounts the global flood interpretation. Australian wildlife shows a completely isolated history and fossils of the indiginous animals are not found on other continents which suggest they were not on Noah's ark nor were they effected by a global flood.
I'm just asking how someone can be a Christian Creationist without believing in the Flood.
Several ways. The first way is that someone could believe that the flood was a localized flood meant to kill man. The second way is that it is a story, a legend a fable, not meant to be taken literally like when Jesus used "parables." The third way a person could discount it is that it has simply been proven to not have happened and therefore mistakenly included in the canon or done so under incorrect pretenses, and since Christianity is dependant on the Gospel of Jesus Christ then the flood is irrelevant anyway.
Doesn't the Bible itself say that you have to believe the whole Bible, if you change it you become parakeet-food, etc?
No. The Book of Revelation says not to make changes to Revelation or you will be subject to the plagues of Revelation. Discounting the Global Flood theory or whether or not the account was meant to be taken literally is not a matter of changing the bible anyhow..

I favor adultery being a crime in the Armed Services short the penalty of dishonorable discharge. So many things warrant an article 15 that are much more egregious even in the private sector that its somewhat irrational. For instance harrassing someone based on race or using a racial slur in the military warrants an article 15 whereas in the private sector you would be terminated and subject to civil litigation.
Fighting with a co-worker or fellow service member in general warrants an article 15 whereas in the private sector you would be subject to termination without question and perhaps again civil and even criminal litigation.
Why adultery in the military warrants the equivalent of a felony on your record post military service I think is subject at least to review.
(edit added)
If for no other reason than the potential to use the charges for political assassination ie. the Sergeant Major of the Army, a black guy, the female Air Force pilot. The lack of enforcement also creates a fairness issue when the penalties are so severe.

I object to the dichotomy of creationist vs evolutionist in this area. I am a creationist but dont believe in a world wide flood. Some of the most laughable attempts by the flood apologists are the claims that the moutains were quickly and violently "pushed" up out of the ground by "the flood." The fact that the flood apologists are so eager to latch onto that theory despite the known laws of physics suggest the lack of interest they actually have for the truth. Its like how if you really like a sci-fi or fantasy movie you are willing to overlook the fact that laser bolts actually travel at the speed of light, that there isnt really any sound in space (vacuum) or that traveling through a solar system especially between them under sublight power takes a very, very long time.

The Bible
by particlesnwaves5 inin the friends forum a topic was brought up about what belief made persons leave the organization.
while certain witness beliefs did cause me to doubt, i think learning certain facts about the bible was what made me finally leave.
i think it would be interesting, while controversial, to have an intense conversation about the bible and whether it is concretely true or not.

60 Minutes Tonight--Interesting
by patio34 in.
from buzzflash.com: watch 60 minutes on sunday: another ex-bush aide accuses bush and rumsfeld of being obsessed with iraq at the expense of the war on terrorism.
bush turns lies and failure to protect us into an excuse for more lies and failure to protect us.

Paul O'Neil is the other guy that quit. If recollection serves he was the treasury Secretary. He also projects that thanks almost entirely to GW Bush the national debt will be at least $44 Trillion by the year 2020(?).
Personally I think that is a little presumptuous considering changing conditions that are possible given our position relative to Iraqi oil. But it doesnt look good for an incumbent when your top experts leave your administration and say you are ruining the country respective to their individual expertise.

The KIT (purple) is one of the single greatest books the society ever put out against its own cause. I am surprised they gave you a KIT though. I thought they had made the full conversion to emphatic diaglotts by now. Good to hear, keep it safe. If you decide to heed our warnings and take up the cause it will come in handy.

So, how is it you're out there protecting me...been to any good pro-terrorist (aka "peace") rallies lately?
I love how you think you know me.
My comment about being here protecting someone's ass is because I serve in the military...
Really, I never would have guessed that what with the cute little picture of you glaring in your BDUs in front of the flag.
and most of us here in the military know that the threats that are out there must be addressed...
And the threats that don't and didn't exist also need to be addressed which is what we were doing.
it had nothing to do with how right or wrong Bush is.
Im the one that pointed that out, Mr. Superiority Complex.

Always wrapping himself in the flag,
Guys like me will be around protecting your ass Yeru.
(edited to elaborate)
guys like me will still be around protecting your ass.
How does that prove that Bush is correct in his actions? It doesn't you are trying to brag somehow. Using this kind of statement as a trump card in a debate over the decisions of a third party to somehow attempt to bolster your position and impune the other guy are really low and in my experience a tactic not employed by truly professional officers and NCOs.
So if a Navy SEAL tells you he thinks you're wrong is he right because he is from a more highly trained outfit?
If you want to live your life as a bragging contest have fun in your silly little world.
