Can you give us the rest of the letter? I'm no fan of Rutherford, but it sounds like the text you've quoted might be flattery to soften Hitler before asking him to be nicer to the witnesses. Nothing wrong with that.

The Hitler Files. The WT had relations with UN. Also with Hitler.
by avengers inthis is part of a letter that rutherford wrote to the german empire before ww 2. .
in the declaration of facts, rutherford wrote: .
the present government of germany has declared emphatically against big business oppressors and in opposition to the wrongful religious influence in the political affairs of the nation.

the aftermath
by the mole inmy uncle called for my dad and wanted to know why he stopped attending meetings, he then asked me what hall im attending.
first i told him my dad could only answer why he does what he does and then i told him i had difficulty with alot of teachings that are curious.
after talking for awhile i asked him why if the magazines are a tool for bible understanding then why is it that so many take it as bible truth?

There's a really good article in the magazine...
by Nosferatu inwhat always blew my mind was that whenever an article in the watchtower, awake, or any wt publication is when someone refers to a part of the publication and says, "there's a really good article in here about bla bla bla".
i've heard many jws use it at the doors, use it at the kingdom hall, etc.
my question is, when is there ever a bad article?

When I was a new green pioneer (age 17), I went to my first CO's pioneer meeting and we were discussing when we read the magazines and in what order we read the articles. One bro (reacher outer), said he read each WT study article when he first got the mag and then studied it properly for the meeting.
I pipe up and say "I don't read all the articles in the Awake - like if it's just about butterflies or something that doesn't interest me".
Silence, disbelief, gasping, horror. I was so innocent!

What first gave you doubts ?
by rick1199 inwe all know the big problems with the wts, but what was the first thing that made you realise there were problems with the organisation ?
with me it was realitivly small stuff like an 8 year old getting baptised and a comment my best mates made about another of our friends asking if we should be hanging round with her as she might be bad assciation (she had just been reproved, but they had been mates 20 years).. .
how ever the first time i ever thought something was really wrong was when i was about 11 and my grand farther died, and mu mum wouldn't go to the funeral, i remeber thinking that surely it was better to say good bye properly than worry about if the service was in a church.. .

Rogue, I hope it works out and your family stays together. If you haven't stopped attending meetings yet, do so, and your wife will probably guess that you want to quit. Let her ask you the questions in her own time. Just give her bits of info, start with 1914, don't say too much at once or you might freak her out. And remember you don't have to give up belief in God, Jesus or the Bible, just let your faith train cruise for a while. You can now concentrate on teaching your child good qualities by example and feel relief that you won't have to drag her up in the JW "cultivation" process like we were. Best wishes,

Interesting Ewatchman commentary on abuse
by trumangirl inanyone read ewatchman's latest commentary condemning the "shepherds"?
he makes an interesting application of the law in ot about a person being bloodguilty if they knew their bull was dangerous yet didn't warn the neighbours or restrain it.
he compares this to a recent legal case where the wt lawyers said that the elders are not responsible for protecting "congregants".

If one can get past ewatchman's ridiculous faith in the JW's as God's chosen people, it is interesting to consider his applications of scripture as they do seem to apply to JWs and other orgs gone wrong.

I think they've put in the bit about priests sexually abusing children because dubs will read it and think subconsciously "See, the brothers are against child abuse and cover-ups, they condemn it in other religions, so that means they would do the right thing in those situations, we should trust them ... "

Woops, I meant to go on and say these things:
- the Revelation book prophecies applied to conventions in the 1920s
- shunning
- feeling embarrassed by the magazines and the meetings (but this was just my bad attitude)
- not being able to explain to my 5 year-old why the Jehovah would destroy her school friends at Armageddon
- missing out on university in the 1980s, then they softened the policy and I'd missed out.
.... but the brick wall of faith didn't fall over till a relative put me on to Ewatchman. Then the whole wall fell over in one hit.
