Personally, I avoid any threads that Valis are on just so I don't have to look at pics of his nipple.

Valis, I'm NOT a wimp (Tattoo)
by LB inyep i took lots of heat from valis for worrying about my pain threshold but i went down today during meeting time and got my first tat.
it's a hawaiian tribal turtle.
it wasn't painful at all, maybe because of the location but it did burn a bit.

WOULD A JW KILL IN THE NAME OF GOD???
by minimus ini've heard different "apostates" say that witnesses are so brainwashed that they would kill, if ordered by the faithful slave.
do you believe this?

It's interesting that when JW's went before draft boards, they would rather go to jail than be considered a pacifist.
What does that mean? Going to jail instead of war is an ultimate display of pacifism. How they preferred to be labeled by the government is beside the point of their pacifistic behavior. I'm getting sick of the word pacifism so I will attempt to refrain from continuing this thread. It does not seem to be progressing anyhow. -

BTTT so everyone can see this video. The WT lawyer for the daughter makes a complete jackass of himself by interrupting a press release of a grieving father. However he has some convincing points that seemed to be unrefuted. Even the news commentator said that it is hard to tell who is right and even if one group is right over the other. I'm sure that was not the desired effect of Mr. Hughes.

Sorry for not reading your post thoroughly the first time. My reply was meant to be more general than directed at you and it was merely a continuation of my previous stance that JWs in general would not start killing at the request of the WT.
I did not state that the majority of jw's would kill if told to. I stated that some though not all would do so.
Again, my mistake and we are in agreement on this. Although I would take it even further to clarify that I believe only a small minority would.

JW cadavers on Malawi's soil know how it is relevant.
No offense, but unless they are on this board, I guess it remains irrelevant. In fact, those poor cadavers would be perfect examples of how pacifist JWs are. -

ARE JW'S MORE HONEST THAN OTHERS?
by minimus inone thing that the witnesses promote is how they are different from the rest of the world.
in your personal experience , did you find that you could trust a witness more than you could a non-jw?

I did not mean for that statement to refer to everyone on this thread, or even to all ex-JWs. I meant it to be read by anyone who is quick to find fault with others and to point out that ex-JWs can ("can", not "are") be as self-righteous as JWs.

Exactly what am I in denial of? Instead of praying that I will "get it", maybe you can just help me out and tell me. Or is it because you are completely full of hot air and are quick to dismiss any further discussion of your accusation for fear of this becoming known?

How pacifistic is it to mentally kill
Very, considering that it doesn't involve violence and war.
outoftheorg -
The changing of doctrine is quite a bit different when it involves self-sacrifice or self-martyrdom than it is when it requires agression against other people and physically killing them especially when it is required of pacifists. I'm sorry that we disagree, but I surmise that it would be highly improbable that the majority of JWs would kill if told to do so by the WT. A small extremist faction maybe (similar to Muslims) maybe, but not the majority.

I'm not sure how your post is relevant.

Cause when Mother WTS tells them to kill as many apostates as they can, they will do it
Anyone with half an education will see how ridiculous this statement is. Again, they have 100 years of being a pacifist organization. To think that could be reverted by the leaders and have the majority of followers go along with it is ridiculous. This is not a simple change of beliefs, this requires taking a person who probably joined the religion because they were inclined to pacifism to begin with and turn them into an aggressor. This is not a matter of beliefs, it is a matter of behavioral capabilities.
as most people agree on this thread,
Then that doesn't say much for the people on this thread.
A little lesson in life Europe, be careful not to accept ideas just because most of the people surrounding you accept it. It's called mob mentality.

I certainly don't need to go to college to learn to read WT pubs, quite the opposite in fact. I don't really care what they say in their pubs about pacifism. I know that Jah and JC are not pacifist according to JW beliefs. But I do know that humanly speaking, JWs are pacifists. As a whole, they are opposed to violence or war on their own part to resolve any disputes. That would be pacifism.

It is interesting reading amac's posts. Denial, in action.
I'm not quite sure what this empty accusation is supposed to mean, but on this board, I've become used to it. That's OK though, an accusation without anything to back it up carries no weight.
I don't have the time to respond to the last few posts individually, but to surmise, I tend to defend groups that are pigeonholed. I see a lot of holier than thou attitudes by ex-JWs about current JWs. So much that it reminds me of the attitudes that JWs have about other faiths.
As to individual JWs, who's to say they are more honest than others? Some are, some aren't. As an organization, I think they do a good job of stressing honesty and getting their followers to fall in line. That is why at District Conventions I never worried too much about stuff getting stolen. For some JWs, it is a very superficial honesty, for others it is more deep rooted. To try and peg the entire group and how honest they are is ridiculous.
