  i am really excited by george bush's latest reason for bombing iraq: he's running out of patience.

  for some time now i've been really pi##ed off with mr johnson, who lives a couple of doors down the street.

  well, him and mr patel, who runs the health food shop.they both give me queer looks, and i'm sure mr johnson is planning something nasty for me, but so far i haven't been able to discover what.. i've been round to his place a few times to see what he's up to, but he's got everything well hidden.

  starScream - Just because I don't agree with the way the situations were handled doesn't mean I'm siding with the "insane." In fact, by chance, those are a very fitting analogies. Saddam is deranged and the US is mishandling the situation, just as Randy and David Koresh were deranged and the US mishandled them.

  By the way, when Randy Weaver's wife was shot he was outside of the house, nowhere near her. His wife was standing in the doorway holding her baby with children behind her. Pretty lousy mistake. And before that, their young son was shot IN THE BACK after he fired a gun in the air upon seeing a couple men on his property who just shot his dog. All that because an undercover agent asked Randy Weaver to saw off a shotgun for him.

  Searchofthetruth - Great Post! That was hilarious and sad at the same time.

  If the SWAT team has surrounded your neighboor's house because they are known to have illegal weapons that they knew they weren't supposed to have because they are convicted felons that is the right of the SWAT team. That is what it is there for. Once the SWAT team decideds that negotiations are going nowhere they can invade, at will, say their patience have run out. Laws are not passed to go unenforced.

  Maybe you're right. Perhaps a better analogy would be Ruby Ridge or Waco, TX. Those went down as real victories for the gov't, didn't they?

  in 1990 the u.n. security council authorized the use of military force to expel the iraqi army from kuwait.

  british and u.s. forces were the dominant contributors to the coalition.

  I think you may be talking out of your bottom. The end of the Gulf War had nothing to do with an "act of mercy" cease fire. The US was supposed to get Iraq out of Kuwait, NOT OCCUPY IRAQ. That is why they stopped. Sorry, but there was no pause button on that war. The only way that war could be continued is if Iraq occupied Kuwait again.

  And to all others, I'm not sure, but I think that Newsense fellow may have been being sarcastic about the Macheteros comment as in his post before that he seems to be very much against war and death and very emotional over the thought of people dying. Not really the attitude of a terrorist.

  And TR - Your post is nonsense. If that is the logic to back this war, then we better invade Russia too, because what if they start attacking other countries. And what about North Korea, they've been after the South forever, they might attack too. Hell, we might as well attach the French since they seem pissed off at us, they might want to attack.

  Unfortunately, I am not personally aware of what weapons that Iraq had previous to their required dismantling. And I didn't get a chance to read that 1,200 page (or whatever it was) document on what they have done to comply. I really don't have the time in my life to research to that level, so I rely heavily on the government to do so and then provide evidence of these discrepancies. I have yet to see enough proof for me to support the death of many people to ensure the lives of others. Now if you happen to have a synopsis of the WMD that were there and that have not been proven to have been dismanteled, I would be interested in seeing it.

  Notice that any noncompliance is to be reported to the Council for assessment, not automatic war. I have no doubt that Iraq has failed to meet all of the resolutions, but are these infractions deserving of war and the loss of many, many lives? I have not seen enough evidence for this personally.

  throughout the years after having come to know through your marriage to my daughter you have been a very kind and thoughtful person, sometimes more than my own son.

  i don't think that a mother-in-law could want a finer person for a son than you.

  however, it is very unfortunate that i will have to change the way that i will relate to you now and in the future.

  Why should the pain go in only one direction?

  Why should the pain go in two directions?

  I have to agree with JamesThomas. I can fully understand being angry over this, initially. But don't let that dictate your actions, and don't be guilty of the same crimes she is committing. Teach through example...any other way will only strengthen her convictions. She sounds like a very nice woman that is fully caught up in a wrong way of thinking. Hopefully one day, she will be able to truly act Christ like which is what I'm sure she is trying to do, although being misguided.

  I think in your analogy that the US, being the largest super power and strongest military force, would be paralleled by the bully in high school. Maybe we should send ourselves to self-help.
