ok...3 days ago, i found out that i was going to be a father!!

good new right?

well then she says that she is considering having an abortion...which i am totally against....so we discussed it...then she started to think that she might have the child....so she talked it over with her twin sister...and she told her to get the abortion...now she says she wants the abortion...now i am upset...not onlly does she want the abortion...but she wants me to pay for the entire thing...so not only am i going to be terminating a developing life...but i have to pay for it????

This is obviously a sensitive situation and, not knowing the complete circumstances, people on this list can only offer general advise.

My advise is to stand behind what you believe. Don't compromise and do something you think is wrong simply to be "sensitive" to someone else's feelings. You need to do what you think is morally right. If you are against abortions, then I would not even offer to contribute half of the cost. I would offer that the two of you need to decide whether or not you will keep the baby. If the two of you do not want to keep the baby, then look for an alternative route in adoption.

This is all my personal opinion. One of the side effects of sex is a child. To simply abort a child because it is not convenient shows a complete disregard for life. If someone is so against getting pregnant and parenting a child, they should masterbate instead of having sex. I don't mean to be insensitive to your girlfriend/wife's situation, but there are certain times in life where we need to mature quickly and make sacrifices to take responsibility for our actions. This is one of them. Either raise the child in a loving home, and if you can't do that, find a loving home through an adoption agency...or Mr. Biggs. Good Luck!

i thought i'd hit it several times before...as i have been thru the divorce over the past couple of years...lost all my so-called friends...lost my belief in what i thought was the "truth"....and now my own loving daughter, being the good little dub she is has told me she doesn't want me to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

she told me today at lunch.

i almost threw up.

I'm very sorry to hear about your predicament. I haven't read all the responses, but I agree with the few I have read that have encouraged you to not lash back by not involving yourself in her wedding. If taking pictures all she will let you do, then do it and be happy for your daughter and that you can be there.

Somehow, whether in person or in writing, I would definitely express to her (with plenty of time BEFORE the wedding) how important it is to you to walk her down the aisle and how it is something you have looked forward to for however long. Maybe even reason with her that it is not much more than taking pictures as far as involvement goes.

In any event, I hope she changes her mind, and if not, I hope you can still enjoy her wedding.

Why don't you ask Bill yourself? That's a lot easier than ASSuming stuff and making assinine statements like you "think it is safe to ASSume this and that."

First of all, yes I have lost my dignity. I consider it a necessity for objective education.

Second of all, you seem to have missed my point. Where have I defended these people? In fact, I made a list of the errors I see in their thinking. I simply pointed out that these are errors in thinking we all make, and when we consider how we have made these same mistakes, it is easier to understand others. When we understand others better, it is easier to communicate. When it is easier to communicate, it is easier to correct each other. Nothing beats a transitive intelligence.

I'm back from my vacation in HELL

so i've been gone this past week .

i was on a vacation with my husband an his whooooooooooooole family who are allllllllllllllllllllll very very devout witnesses.

so i decided to take along one of my harry potter books to read.

That drives me nuts when people use that reasoning! I had a close female friend who is not the brainiest and she used a similar reasoning. I had no response (what was I gonna say "Well, if you weren't so stupid...?) Anyway, I quickly came to realize that some people will always have to follow the thinking of others because they have a hard enough time coping with life and can't truly think for themselves. So for many, it seems that if they weren't a JW, they would be following someone else.

I've seen reference to this several times...

chickenshit elders taped trashbags to their windows right in front of him, then went inside without him, had their little kangaroo court and later notified Bill he was DF'd. They wouldn't even believe it even though Bill took pictures of the whole thing.

I guess I'm confused on the bit about them going inside without him...what should they have done? Gone to his car and personally requested him to get out and come inside? I think it safe to assume that Bill understood that the meeting was inside the building, not in his car. I guess I don't understand why he didn't go inside if he is concerned about not getting DFed.
