we had one who collapsed in the first ten minutes of his talk - we were genuinely concerned for him and he was okay, but it was great for the meeting to finish a lot earlier than usual ...

JWs and Job Centres
by badboy ini wonder how many jws are aware that job centres formerly known as labour exchanges were started by the sally army(salvation army!)..
should a jw therefore enter a job centre because of its connections with chritendom?.
they might be demons lurking in the dark corners of a job centre!

what a bunch of bleeding nonsense !
hey brit - you should be writing watchtower articles ...
btw - anyone else on this bb work in a Jobcentre ???

Comments from the CO today
by Richie ini went to the meeting today to hear the public talk given by the visiting co. the talk dealt with jehovah's secret dwelling place and how we can all be taking advantage of "fleeing to safety" as it were, especially as the days are getting wicked as he mentioned.
he brought out the dangers of listening to apostates (there were 2 people in the congregation who disassociated themselves recently, which automatically meant that they were apostates according to the co's comments).
then he further elaborated on the fact that there were about 14,000 witnesses disfellowshipped in the usa each year and in canada 1400, about the size of a circuit assembly - also he said how terribly dishonorable it would be to be df'd and be as a dead person as it were (i felt so embarrassed as i am df'd) - during the talk he brought out two points which were extremely misleading if not outright lies: he said that just after the disaster of sept 11th, thousands of people "wanted to flee to security to the watchtower building and that they felt that they needed this security".

hey richie - you sound like a cool well-grounded guy - good to (virtually) meet you !
i da'd just three weeks ago - the week before my x-cong had a co visit - thanks for the insight as i was imagining the exact same talk was being given about my 'type' being apostates - a label that now delights me - to be called an apostate by an apostate borganisation ! how ironic ...
plus your thoughts on the gb and ray franz's revelations are the ones that finally made my mind up about not wanting to subject myself to their tyranny anymore ...
do you mind if a ask why you attend ? i would guess you have family there ? i would also hazard a guess that you would not need anyone to tell you that, despite what the co or anyone else says, you have no need to feel embarrased or dishonourable - to be scorned by people without real principle makes you completely honourable ... respect to you my friend :)

Funny Shunning....
by Scully inwe were shopping yesterday when i noticed a jw woman from our old congregation in one of the aisles.
normally i would go up and say hello, because i'm neither dfd or dad, but we were in a bit of a hurry, and i didn't want to spend much time in frivolous small talk.
a little background on her: when we knew her she was a pioneer, and could very well still be one; her mother is a pioneer; her twin sister is a pioneer, etc.... you get the idea.

Danielson's Epiphany, or BS
by Danielson inits occurred to me that one of the main reasons i even came to this website was not to bash my fellow jws (dubs) or trash the manmade,self-appointed sole channel of god's truth and salvation, but to develop a healthy thinking pattern.
to challenge myself and my beliefs.
just as others have commented i'm personally going to try and be more positive and considerate of others.

ooh scully, you have whetted my appetite now ... i've only been da'd for a fortnight and still waiting for my first encounter and thus my first genuine experience of being shunned ...
on a semi-serious side, despite being able to laugh, does it actually sadden you too ?

No need to read COC etc to know its bull.
by sleepy indo you need to read coc or look on the interthingynet to know the "truth" is bull?.
i think not, but it will make it easier.. having more facts at your fingertips will help you make up your mind about the society , but really from reading the publictions yourself and looking at the congregations at what goes on should tell you its wrong.. i think theres a problem that a lot of people don't meditate enought and don't give themselves a well rounded knowledge of the world in general.. its understandable given that so much time is taken up with other things, many people are too tired to read alot or think deeply.. yet if you don't you are missing out.. you learn so much by reading rather than whatching tv or playing computer games.. reading a wide variety of books and meditating on things can help exercise you mind , helping it sort dodgy ideas from more sound ones.. i think we should learn from our time as witnesses and try to read more, and meditate on things, become a more rounded person.. it would be a shame if we had to rely soley on other people to mold the way we lead our lives.

sleepy - looking at people - dubs - tells only part of the story - the doublethink is to accept they have imperfections and will make mistakes - so for those only just exploring the idea of coming out of the borganisation, it's hard for them to shake off that doublethink ...
COC is the final confirmation that the GB are only a bunch of corporate men going for the majority vote without so much as a meditative moment on the topic for decision - minor things such as whether the millions worldwide should continue to jeopordise their (and their children's) lives by refusing blood etc etc etc - this is what helped seal my decision for me ...
