Mine was that so much of it seemed so unreasonable. And the artificiality of being around those who just never stopped thinking and acting "as a JW".

It's 12:43 am. Do you know where your sanity is????
by JV ini was this close to paying .99 cents for the new dave matthews song "american baby" but i found an uncorrupted version on limewire, thank god, phew that was a close one...... i can't help but wonder how my life would be different if i wasn't involved with the jw's, i'm an all or nothing kinda guy, this sort of in sort of out state i'm in is really frustrating me.
i've been thinking lately about life bjwce (before jehovahs witness common era) there was this feeling of endless possibilites like anything could happen, sorta of like when you're a kid and you can be anything you want like president (but we all know you're last name has to be bush to be president, go jeb!!!
) call it what you will that's just how i felt.

Ah JV, I get such a kick out of you! But at the same time, how I wish you would just allow yourself to let it all go. That optimism can return to you once you walk away. That's what happened to me! From basic hopelessness and a sense of humankind's futility to what you described you felt pre-jw-lobotomy.
You can unlearn it! I did. It's great.
But keep writing! I enjoy it. I love your commentaries on the meetings. They're awesome. I just hate for you to have to suffer for my entertainment.

Waterworld with Kevin Costner and The Bridges of Madison County with Clint Eastwood. Hard to go wrong with Clint though.
And I agree, The Princess Bride was hilarious!

So I'm at the meeting tonight.............
by JV ini'm looking through the new awake magazine (great article on shoplifiting by the way) and this older sister comes and sits beside me.
she started talking to me about this great little piece in the magazine about fish or something that should be on my dinner plate, something that i don't really care about, then she turns to me and said and i quote " where else but jehovah's organization can we learn such things?
i sat there with a dumbfounded look on my face thinking " are you kidding me?

priceless stuff though
Ditto!
Good thread, JV! Loved your comparison between the joy of meetings and being drilled in the head with an auger and the ipod idea is a great one! I always hated before and after the meetings, having to talk to them (for the most part).
Hang in there! I didn't realize you had such an awesome sense of humor!

Hey, Nos, you're right of course. Wish we could control it! My son is 21 and to this day, 9 out of 10 times when he simply arrives home and opens the door, either his sister or I will scream, just a little. Poor guy.
But did you ever see the episode of The Osbornes in which Sharon and Kelly want Ozzie to get the cat down from on top of a tall hutch of some sort? He was calmly trying to coax the cat, while both Sharon and Kelly screamed and screamed...it was hilarious. Ozzie kept calmly saying to the gals, "please, don't scream."

Reminds me of Nebuchadnezzar, who was moved or forced in a way to acknowledge, according to the Bible's account anyway, that Jehovah was the Most High God; but he never became a worshipper of Jehovah.

Dead Relative Due To Blood Policy?
by AlanF in.
i'd like to hear comments from anyone who had a relative die because of the watchtower society's misguided policy on blood transfusions.. alanf

Yes, Alan, my mother, though already disfellowshipped for smoking, "stood firm" on the blood issue when hospitalized with severe arteriosclerosis. Yes, she probably didn't have long to live; and she had stated that she didn't want to live if it meant living as an invalid; but she would not have died at that time if she had agreed to a blood transfusion. She had also refused life-saving major surgery to remove much of the arterial plaque.
Her death certificate stated death was the result of asphixiation due to refusal of a blood transfusion. Or so I was told by my sister who is a "loyal" dub, and she was able to see the death certificate.
