Many of us have spouses within & outside of the Borg. Others are married to those who never shared our beliefs. For those who are no longer practicing JW's, how are you navigating your relationships with your spouses or signifigant others?
Do you feel your relationship is better to have someone who does, or at best one time did share your beliefs, or is it even more difficult because your S.O. can't truly relate to the Jehovah's Witness experience?
Do you find it easier with an un-believer because you don't have to explain that portion of your history, or why you may have certain reservations about faith & God, the Bible and other things associated with it?

What was I Thinking?
by prophecor inlooking over the beliefs once shared in the borg, it's a little disturbing to see just how intrinsic and profound our allegiance to the organization was.
rules and reasoning for nearly every thought, wish, dream or idea.
i know it's a stupid question but, couldn't we have seen this coming?

Thanx everyone for responding, I'll try to remember those points and I'll look back here from time to time so I can be reminded.
And it all looks so good from the inside, and it feels so real, the ghost keep chasing me from time to time, however, I'm not where I want to be, keeping a waiting attitude on my healing, but I've believed in these things for so long, that it's become a part of my lifestyle, even though I've been invisible for ten years.
I realize too however, that I've only been released from the mental and emotional prison for a little over a year now and it takes time, I only wish it would hurry up. I've got to get busy living again.
I'd hate to die, still being a hostage of my own heart.

Great News!!!
by Dawn inmy father-in-law has been very ill - has a bad heart valve.
i am really close to my in-laws as they have pretty much adopted me as their daughter.
i lost my dad a few years ago and my father-in-law is like my father to me.

Hi Dawn
I am so happy for you and your in-laws. They're a true blessing, a calm for your storm. It is such a waste of emotional human energy to concern oneself with the horrid practices of shunning.

GOVERNING BODY only
by nowino innew here, so, should i be crossing any lines, i ask your pardon.
recently i asked a question within another's post on the meaning of "junior, senior" statements/levels.
the response i received within that post( and thank you ) was that it had to do with the "number of posts" one has/had made.

So nowino, I always wanted to ask and maybe you could tell me.
What does SP stand for ?
You think with my ranking that I should know by now but I don't.

Hi nowino, I could say only, that those who have time in here, are those who have cleared a hurddle or two on just getting here in the first place.
When I first found this place I was scared to death as it was apparent that it was no Pro JW site. Many find it very scary to even go looking for info not of the society. Pushing the enter key the first time after googling JW's, finding that there was a flood of info on them pro, con indifferent & otherwise, was one of the biggest steps for me to attempt.
And gives you a little incentive to make yourself more available, if thats what you choose to do afterwards. Some take it a little seriously than others. Some make their acensions without mentioning them at all.
Just a little perk on making yourself available to those dying to get to know you.
Hoping you enjoy your stay here.
Ciao

DO YOU KNOW THE KINGDOM SONG WORDS?????????????
by vitty inafter being in the org for 20 years, being regular at every meeting.
i must have sung the songs hundreds of times, but i cant sing the first line of any song off by heart..
i asked my husband, kids if they could, they also cant.. can you?.

In many words to the songs, I can see so much of blatant cultish type mentality. It speaks volumes. A little frightening.

Long time apostate, first time poster.
by mtbatoon in.
just found this site today and as well as being amused, concerned and shocked at some of the stuff i?ve found here, reading the bios and posts of other ex jw?s has in a way made me feel a little bit less alone in the world.
don?t get me wrong, i?m not an emotionally scared loner, it?s like i?ve finally found someone else to stand outside morning assemble with.
