A lot would depend on the question if China would open its doors to the Society in the near future. There's a huge potential membership to be found there.

by exjdub inthere have been posts and topics about the wtbs imploding and feuding factions in bethel etc.
some have said that the end is near for the wtbs.
is this just wishful thinking...or do you really think that this is a reality?

Elder Explains NGO Issue...Now It Is Clear!
by exjdub inquite a while ago an older sister stopped by my door, and stupid me, i let her know my life story in a nutshell.
faded for 7 years, former ministerial servant, blah blah blah.
i think the reason i did it is that she reminded me of my mom and she caught me at a weak moment.

What did you expect the elder to say? Something like 'You're right, son. The org sucks' ?

Governing Blunders - Part 1
by hillary_step ini thought i would start a weekly column of wts inanity, inanity serious enough to have affected peoples perceptions and negatively changed their lives.. .
one famous wts myth that i have heard uttered more times a minimus question is that ?women feel while men think?, did you ever wonder where the wts dug that thought up from?
apparently from an unamed woman psychologist and the famous department of ?many authorities?

Thats very funny, but a little sad. Got me to wondering how many young witness girls lives were ruined because of that one paragraph
How about non-witness young girls of that generation?

Jehovah's Witnesses Have a High Mental Illness Level

Richard if you can get the funding, I'll get the 1,000 subjects, no problem
Pork chop, if you have 100 subjects (active JWs), that's more than satisfactory for comparative research. As for funding, I assume there are some US foundations on (mental) health care who might consider to provide a grant to a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist who is willing to do a PhD on this topic. So the first step is to find someone who is interested to do the job.

I wonder if we could get someone to fund it?
I think getting 1000 JW to voluntarily cooperate with this research project is a much bigger problem.

License Plates
by richard indoing a search on jws and jurisdiction, i found this jewel:.
"new hampshire statutes require that noncommercial motor vehicles bear license plates embossed with the state motto, "live free or die," and make it a misdemeanor to obscure the motto.
appellees, maynard and his wife, who are followers of the jehovah's witnesses faith, view the motto as repugnant to their moral, religious, and political beliefs, and accordingly they covered up the motto on the license plates of their jointly owned family automobiles.

The link may not work: click '430' in the left-hand column, then click 'Wooley v Maynard'.

Doing a search on JWs and jurisdiction, I found this jewel:
"New Hampshire statutes require that noncommercial motor vehicles bear license plates embossed with the state motto, "Live Free or Die," and make it a misdemeanor to obscure the motto. Appellees, Maynard and his wife, who are followers of the Jehovah's Witnesses faith, view the motto as repugnant to their moral, religious, and political beliefs, and accordingly they covered up the motto on the license plates of their jointly owned family automobiles. Appellee Maynard was subsequently found guilty in state court of violating the misdemeanor statute on three separate charges and upon refusing to pay the fines imposed was sentenced to, and served, 15 days in jail".

Faraon - Happy Birthday!
Re page: o boy ... it says you need Microsoft Office Webcomponents to see it (actually, it's Dutch, not German - don't insult me!)
I'll look into it. The page represents the stats of the 2004 Yearbook. If you need specifics, I can pm these data if you wish.
