an uncomfortable spot to be in and it appears your wife handled it well. I am glad she did not get a testy response to her explanation. We never know what kind of response we are going to get when we give any reason for pulling away or doubt in the WTS. I know I did and that is why I am skittish to tell anyone else. I'm just avoiding those who might ask.

I just realized something...
by LuckyNun inif i'd just pretended to have an anxiety disorder and had a few panic attacks while out in service, i could have been spared the horrors of theocratic ministry school and going out in service.
i would've missed out on a lot of field-service trips to edward's apple orchard, but i could have stayed at home and put off getting baptized until i had enough money saved from my paper routes to make a proper break for it!
why didn't i think of this ten years ago?

Do JW's Ever Have Strong Opinions About Anything?
by Englishman inseems to me that they don't have strong opinions about anything that isn't connected to their religion.
for example, how many are vegetarians or vegans?
or pro or anti capital punishment?

The worst part was that they tended to find some biblical justification for their opinions, and therefore felt entitled to push them on everyone else, too.
isn't that the truth.. I hated that..

Did you ever believe you were a good person only because...................
by BLISSISIGNORANCE in........................you were a dub, and that made you better than if you were not a dub?????????????.
it seems to come up in conversation time and time again with x or inactive dubs my hubby and i talk to.
we often discuss with them the reasons we left the borg, the things that that have really hurt us and the wrong teachings.

I think the feeling about whether we are good.. Or good enough comes from all the talks we had on people, those that were JWs and those who were not. Talks about having 'wordly' assocation, or dating a 'non-JW' and the talk would have comments like "but he/or she IS A GOOD PERSON" and then they would go on to show you how you may "THINK THEY ARE A GOOD PERSON" but indeed they are not, they are not acceptable to 'God' and thereby associating with them, we are being bad.
so when we leave, suddenly we are that "she or he is a good person' but are we? Yes we are, or we can be!! but we have to shed somehow all those years of brain maniupulation.

My story
by ChimChim ini was never baptised because i was to young, i was in it until i was 5 years old.
but it ruined my life and still is because my dad, nanny, grandfather, my step nanny, my aunt and uncle...all on my dads side of the family are still in it, so i get lectured alot about things that have to do with the "truth" or i hear him talking about and all i think it, "what a bunch of garbage.
he never really yells at me, i don't think he can because he barely ever see's me, i try to avoid going there as much as possible.

So I know that I am pretty well off, but still knowing that im better off then most people it still hurts because knowing that he is my father and he's never there for me. I consider my step-dad more of a father then my dad.
I hope you didn't think I meant that your hurts were not valuable. I only meant that we love you and hope if we can show you we care and understand, just maybe a wee bit, it might help. Sometimes it is hard to talk to people who haven't got a clue what you are going through and thereby may not have the same amount of empathy.. Does that make sense?

Or pro or anti capital punishment?
Or even for or against the war in Iraq?
those kinds of things might lead one to believe they have a political or nationalistic view and that would be taboo..
I knew a vegatarian once.. oh yeah.. he wasn't a real brother but one that pretended to be on the internet..
