He was snotty, rude, pompous and absolutely disgusting. Interupted the women and ridiculed their questions. And snarky about their manner of questioning. Demeaning bastard.
And then he turned around and just groveled for the Justice.
Disgusting.

LoveUni: Spinks just said that if a person is accused as a molestor they are automaticallydeleted as an elder
Wasn't there testimony already given by the one or more of the JW elders that if the accused admits/confesses, he is given the option to "step down" rather than be deleted?
I think it was Horley that said that. Because it later made me wonder about the "stepping down" that two of the elders said they did temporarily. When questioned, they had both said it was for "personal reasons".
OMGog...he is delivering a sermon!!!
Huh? You Aussies have JWs in your entire police force?
Yup. There he goes! Teaching the women lawyers.
Ugh. It makes my skin crawl.
Now he is almost yelling at her...
Ha. It is established that elders collect 'evidence" by obtaining stories from the child or victim that was a child at the time of the abuse, Nicely done.
And, so many times the stories are told...from one elder to another - and what about those "confession" sessions? All those men, sitting around in a circle. Talking about sex with a minor. With the minor right there sometimes.
Huh. An "observer" elder. While an elder talked to a minor about sex. Watching. Listening. In some places that would be termed voyeurism.
sorry i have to remain completely anonymous about this but you will see why.
i have first hand knowledge that geoffrey jackson of the governing body is staying with his parents in toowoomba, queensland for the next few weeks.
he has already been in australia for a couple of weeks.
steve: But how do the elders "not discourage" reporting allegations to the police, when they tell a "solo" victim - who does not have another eye-witness to support her allegations - that she needs to have faith in Jehovah and "wait on Jehovah" because they cannot investigate her allegations?
Even the police would listen to her and take a statement.
So true.
Those authoritative elders didn't hold up her allegations and they are supposed to speak for Jehovah.
Why would she even believe that worldly police would help her? If the elders couldn't and they were representing "God", she wouldn't think her testimony was good enough to go to the police.
Hell, the elders have even told her that, according to the Bible, it didn't happen.
I would call all that "discouraging behavior".
It wouldn't surprise me if she has been working for the WTS as a "consultant". At one point iin her testimony she said "we" and then quickly changed to "I"..."would have to look at that" - when questioned about a problem with the WT policy.
From her claimed and apparent knowledge of the WT literature, she has been working with the WT quite a bit. And was pretty familiar with their procedures.
I think she has a fairly long standing relationship with the WTS.
I missed most of the second part, I will have to watch it later...just tuned in to get the full "witness" that Spinks was spinning to the judge - when he went off about all the JWs in Russia and places and then threw in their WW2 experiences, I was horrified. All to say "we won't budge".
No, you won't budge. We know what happened in WW2. And we know what happened to children that you made martyrs for not saluting the flag way back in the 40s. Some of those childrne were horribly beat - one boy was even castrated. All for YOUR first amendment rights. And...I am not even going to get into the bloody doctrine.
"We won't budge".
Holy ....wow.
"We won't budge".
And there you have it.
why did disfellowshipped ex elder baker not explain why the elders have not informed themselves about the royal commission ?
mr stewart gave him the opertunity to explain the "no part of this world" doctrine, he merely expressed surprise that they had not informed themselves as if it were a personal foible of those particular elders.
it would have been a great opertunity to express disgust at the distain and uncaring attitude the society exhibits toward its worldly neighbours, i also believe him to be out of date re superior authority doctrine ..giving creedence to the lie the jw's are good and productive members of society.
Mephis: And those men are not strangers like Monty Baker, but people who've known her since childhood.
Who didn't even flinch when being told, supposedly, for the first time right there on the stand, that BCG had attempted suicide.
"Nope, Don't recall."
