Pathetic manipulation at the Zone Visit to the Mexico Branch (Central America)
by avaddohn94 ingb helper robert luccioni paid a visit to the branch that oversees mexico and central america and, you can probably imagine all the "excitement" among the witnesses who were tied in via internet.. this time they really emphasized that none of the information that was shared during such a "magnificent" event was to be posted on social media.
the fact that they are becoming more secretive should alert anyone about the dangers posed by cult-like religions but, truth be told, that is a very difficult thing to understand from within.. still, this picture might be of help!
in the end, luccioni's objective as representative of the governing body was very clear: money!

They're either really desperate, or really stupid, to beg money from poverty-stricken Central Americans. It isn't so much what the money means to 'them' - it is what it means to those who are poor - the money represents an investment that keeps them invested, not just financially, but also emotionally. The money is symbolic of trust and loyalty and works psychologically in a very real way.
That small amount of money translates into a high degree of loyalty - in effect, the poor JWs are actually paying for their own loyalty to the organization - the more a person has invested in a relationship, the harder it is to leave.
It matters less to the organization as to actual dollars that they get - and more that what is given is as much as the person can give.

what else is the choice ?
Do the same as Canada does. Make it mandatory for everyone to report suspected child abuse. That way, if a JW decides to report to the elders instead of the authorities, they also are legally culpable.
They already do with culpable damaging results and effects.
I know where your coming from Orphan Crow , with the uselessly redundant investigation such as were there two witnesses etc.It isn't just the two witness rule that is damaging. Just questioning a child who is suspected of being a victim of sexual abuse re-traumatizes the child. People who are not professionals should not be questioning the child at any time. That is why the elders should never be allowed to investigate - as soon as there is a report of suspected child abuse, the elders should immediately call the proper authorities who have access to professionals who know how to handle the investigation without further harming the victim.
The elders should not even have the option to investigate. They should not be allowed to question the victim. By doing so, they are not only harming the victim, they are obstructing justice. Their inept handling of child abuse allegations can, and does, result in the mishandling of testimony and evidence.

Finkelstein: In regards to the WTS. what this organization should do in these situations is go through a investigation on their own and determine if local police authorities should be called in for their own investigation.
I disagree.
Nobody inside the WTS/JWs - nobody - should initiate an investigation.
All cases of suspected child abuse should be reported to the authorities. The WTS is not an authority - they only think they are. It is not up to anybody except the proper authorities to determine if abuse has happened. Investigation by the WTS or their representative entities should never enter into the picture. They are not qualified to conduct an investigation of any kind, and their investigative practices only lead to harming the victim further.

Simon: It should apply to everyone. I cannot think of any possible reason why leaving a child to suffer should ever be excusable.
In Canada (except for the Yukon), mandatory reporting is required by everyone. Every single Canadian citizen is responsible for reporting suspected child abuse.
Mandatory reporting policies have been put in place for most professions, but...the legal statutes of Canada concerning the mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse applies to everybody.

Cameron believes his plan to extend the offence of wilful neglect beyond the health service and adult social care sector to a far wider group of public service workers will send out a message that child abuse can no longer be regarded as a second order issue by public service workers. He hopes the reforms will herald a culture change and come close to meaning that public service workers would lose criminal immunity if they failed to report or act on clear evidence of abuse.
That's cool. Now the next step is to question why family members who know of the abuse aren't held to the same standard.
Anybody - including mothers and grandmothers - who knows a child is being abused and fails to report it, should be charged right along with the abuser.
Far too often, when I hear and read stories from survivors who were raped by their fathers, they speak of the mother knowing the abuse was going on. In those cases, the mothers should also be charged.

Will JW's become a pedophile attraction ?
by cookiemaster inwith all this publicity of how they protect pedophiles and how they instruct members to not report them, could it be possible that jw's will become an attraction for pedos ?
will we see a chance in doctrine?
will gibberish buddies admit there's a problem in the borg?
-
OrphanCrow
A person could hope that the publicity would deter pedos from joining the JWs. However, pedos are predatory in nature, and they also think that they are smart enough not to get caught.
I do think that there will be some pedophiles who will target the JWs after they hear that children are so poorly protected within the organization.
Of course, a predatory pedophile will latch onto any opportunity to play out their sickness, regardless of the consequences. It would be myopic to think that deterring pedophiles would result from media exposure because the exposure could very well attract the sickos who don't believe they will be caught.

Are the Governing Body the ultimate 'predators' on planet earth?
by Esse quam videri inif you answer 'yah', why do you so answer ?

The corporate structure is psychopathic in nature.
That doesn't mean that the GB are predators/psychopaths. They are just at the top of a predatory machine.
And, no, they are not the "ultimate" predators.
But, the r&f JWs are the ultimate victims. They victimize themselves and call it 'religion' to justify why they are so weak that they need a corporation to tell them what to do.

Is there a Child Molester on the Governing Body?
by TTATTelder ingreat report by abc on the abuses in jw-dot-org land.... i hope it opens a "floodgate" of future news reports and exposes.
if you ask yourself, "why hasn't the watchtower leadership changed their policy on the 2 witness rule?
if one or more persons on the gb has victims out there that can't come forward because of the 2 witness rule, then that would explain the permanent road block to policy change that is obviously in place.

you could never have judicial committees after that at all.
Yay!
The WTS use judicial committees as a kangaroo court. They think they are above the law by practicing their own form of twisted judicial proceedings based upon their own twisted way of making 'law'.
In their judicial hearings, they do not follow standard legal procedures.
The WTS view their form of 'law' as being legal. It isn't.

My friend was intrigued by the songbook cover. He wanted to know why the man had his tongue sticking out:
...and why the shadow was left that way on the little girl's dress. "It makes it look like she has a nipple!"
