will self is a well known thinker, journalist and writer here in the uk.
i think this article is absolutely on the money.
in any case, well worth a read.
@Stan - yeah, Will Self sometimes rubs me up the wrong way, too. Although I liked him when he was on Shooting Stars, lol.
He makes some points but he's wrong when he says JWs view salvation as pre-ordained. Er, no they don't. They view salvation as dependent on faithfulness to Jehovah. Sin repeatedly and don't ask for forgiveness ... and you're gonna be killed at Armageddon, even if you are one of the anointed.
Also, I don't agree with him when he calls the JWs 'infantile'. Misguided, yes, but infantile? Nah.
The good thing about Will Self is he's an eccentric Brit who does his own thing and says whatever he wants.
richard dawkins revealed that he celebrates christmas on radio four's today programme.. here is is quoted as saying: .
'i am perfectly happy on christmas day to say merry christmas to everybody,' dawkins said.
'i might sing christmas carols - once i was privileged to be invited to kings college, cambridge, for their christmas carols and loved it.
No, there's no real hypocrisy going on.
Christmas is a fusion of cultural and religious ideas.
People can celebrate Christmas regardless of whether Jesus existed or not.
so for those amongst us who celebrate the season .
merry christmas everyone.
.. jan from tam .
Merry Christmas Jan!

^^^ The above post was written when me and a mate had a joint and decided to do some creative writing.
I wrote the above while my mate wrote something else.
What I wrote is inspired by the film Let The Right One In and by the Beatles song Within You Without You.
That was the idea: pick a film and a song you love and just write something based on that.
I thought what I wrote was pretty cool so I went back and wrote two more verses, making a poem.

The greasy pillow disgusts her.
All her puzzles have been done.
The stale, sour milk was never touched.
The bread is not needed, but she must eat.
All alone for so long, she shuts her apartment door and steps outside into the chill night air.
If they only knew.
He rinses out the pissball.
School is over, and it was a tough one today.
He walks straight to his room, ignoring his mum.
He finishes the sweets he swiped and opens his scrapbook.
His thoughts turn dark and settle upon Jonny and Micke.
If they only knew.
He tried to part the cold, white blanket with frozen fingers.
Shivering now, his clear blue eyes focused on her pale, soft skin, her butterknife cheek.
The city of lights in her eyes.
If they only knew.
All was quiet in the inky blackness, the stars twinkled faintly.
The two thin figures faded into the night.
Friendship and love will save the world from disturbing fate.
If they only knew.

what's next for the world?
a year ago i edited a map of the world to include some big arrows to tell the story of what is to come.
and i shared that map with various friends.
What's next for the world? - China will invade Taiwan at some point.
And then we'll really be in a world of shit.
this is from a site called "atheist republic" :.
" the phenomenon of "nones" — individuals who claim no religious affiliation — is rapidly reshaping america's religious landscape.
recent surveys by the associated press-norc center for public affairs research indicate that 30% of u.s. adults identify as nonreligious.
I've known a couple of people yearning for 'Christian values' in a reaction against the so called 'woke' agenda - yes, quite a lot of people feel this way.
*I sometimes do.
Whether or not they will actually join organised religion or even believe in God is difficult to say ...
*When I see drag queens half-naked in schools I sometimes want to ask Jehovah to give us another flood
