so i saw let the right one in (2008) for the first time a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it.. it's a good little film - the two leads were very young at the time of filming but did an excellent job.

taking the knee became popular among sportspeople immediately after the death of george floyd in may 2020.. most football (that's soccer to you yanks) players are still taking the knee before matches more than a year later.. what has it achieved?
.
what do expect it to achieve in the future?.
One issue I have with Taking The Knee is this: taking a knee or kneeling is a gesture that already has a meaning.
A man might go down on one knee (i.e. 'take a knee') to ask for his fiancee's hand in marriage. Why does he kneel? Well, it's obviously meant to convey the idea that the man values the life of his fiancee more than he does his own.
When Muslims pray they go down on both knees and bow so that their forehead touches the ground. Why? Obviously it's because they believe that the recipient of their prayers is infinitely higher than they are, so they literally make themselves as physically low as it's possible to be.
Whenever I see footage or photos of footballers taking the knee, I cannot help but think to myself, what are they kneeling before?
Had Colin Kaepernick just stood and raised his fist instead of kneeling, he could at least have linked his protest back to the 1968 Olympic games protest, etc. But using the gesture of kneeling as a form of protest against racial injustices or perceived racial injusticies just doesn't make sense to me.
I never saw Tommy Carlos, Muhammad Ali, Rosa Parks or Martin Luther King take a knee, lol.
in a scene reminiscent of the fall of saigon, the usa embassy staff have been evacuated by helicopter.. for a third time in asia ( a fourth, if you count usa supported chiang kai shek's defeat in mainland china) usa supported forces have been defeated.
more than 1 trillion dollars wasted and a huge deathtoll (both sides) afghanistan is back to where it started,.
will the taliban behave differently this time ?
They also didn't notify allies such as the British so they could properly secure consulates and embassies and arrange to extract citizens (which non-US countries are still doing). - yep, it was completely unilateral.
Biden didn't discuss anything with anybody. He just abruptly withdrew American troops.
What a nice guy, huh

I was having a conversation (I use the term loosely) on FaceBook about this matter. I asked the guy what did he expect taking the knee to achieve and he came up with something like,
'It has achieved much already - it has outed racists and that's a good thing, blah blah blah ... '
^^^ Translation: racist incidences have actually increased since taking the knee became popular, lol.
My point of view is this: I think taking the knee is a poor way to fight racism. It doesn't really achieve anything, save for dividing us based on skin colour, as Punk pointed out.
Sure, genuine racism should be fought, I'm with that. Those morons who racially abused Saka and Rashford on social media - give then lifetime bans, get the police involved, whatever.
I just get the idea that taking the knee is a waste of time.
If I was a black footballer I probably wouldn't do it. I wouldn't want to kneel before any ideology, whatever colour I am.

Here's a question: now that the US has ran away from Afghanistan, do you think the Chinese will fear US troops as they eye Taiwan?
so, there's been a lot of talk on social media, blaming trump for the current crisis that began at the weekend.. it's a load of bullsh!t from deluded people who are desperate to blame anyone but joe biden, the idiot they voted for or at least wanted to win last november.. there is only one person, just one person, to blame: joe biden.. he has the heavy burden of making tough presidential decisions.. and after this debacle, it's reasonable to ask if he's up to making such decisions..
Not the Taliban’s fault. Not the Afghan government/military. Not previous US administrations going back decades. No, all Joe Biden - of course the Taliban are at fault for what they do. But the buck stops with Biden. Creaky Joe knew that the Taliban could come back and overtake the country, killing any Afghan in their way. And still Biden chose to withdraw in the manner that he did. It's utterly disgraceful.
And you can't blame Bush, or Blair or Obama or Trump for Biden's withdrawal, whatever faults previous presidents may have had..
Doing so makes you sound like a total pr!ck.

Which senile idiot withdraws troops BEFORE civilians and allies, when it's clear as day that those civilians and allies will be targeted?
^^^ This.
And it's obviously not Trump's fault, however stupid Trump's plans were.
The idiotic covering for Biden's actions kinda makes me wanna vomit, TBH ...
so if a man lets say is heterosexual, married and happy but likes to in the privacy of his own home wear women's cloths and his wife is ok with it.
i know a person could just shut their mouth and who would know but i am talking about jw who is very concerned about telling the truth to the dubbers.
my guess is it would not be a dfing matter but they would not be a ms or elder.
WTS probably views cross-dressing as 'worldly perversions' or similar.
I don't know for sure, but, knowing the cult's mentality, this answer just popped into my head.

@Rattigan - if he wanted the US to leave, he could have withdrawn in a more sensible manner.
The US, UK and Nato could have left a small-ish group of special forces to provide support for the Afghan army and keep a lid on the Taliban.
But Joe Biden doesn't give a toss.
