Which songs give you goosebumps?
by LoveUniHateExams ini don't know if this topic has been covered before - it might 've been.. i also recommend flipper's excellent music thread ('what songs have you been listening to?
', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.
y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.

Here's just one song that does that to me ...

Do You Trump Should Have Exterminated That Poor Iranian Fellow?
by minimus ingood move or bad?
?.

LoveUniHateExams
It was a bold move by Trump. I'm not entirely up to speed about how much of a bastard this Iranian guy was. He seems to be responsible for a lot of deaths.
There's a lot of bluster in Iran about revenge, war!, etc. I doubt they'll do much - just look at their standing army, air force and navy. If the Iranians got stupid it'd be Shock and Awe Mk. II.
Just as an aside, notice that there's been little real real outcry from Muslim communities in the West.
There has been little flag burning in places such as Pakistan.
Why? Well, the vast majority of Western Muslims and Pakistani Muslims are Sunni (globally Muslims are about 75 - 85% Sunni, the rest being Shia, Sufi, Ahmadiya - with Shia being the largest minority).
And this Iranian guy was a Shia, as are most Iranians. He was also an extremist - he was the leader of the paramilitary Al-Quds force. These are Shia extremists who support Bashar al-Assad (who himself is a member of the Allowite sect, who are either a strand of Shia Islam or just align themselves with Shia Muslims) and the Iraqi government (which is Shia). Al-Quds and Hezbollah are both Shia extremist groups which have fought against the Sunni extremists in Syria and Iraq.
The question I'd like to ask is why is there an Iranian backed militia operating in Iraq ? - Iraq is approx. 65% Shia and 35% Sunni. Iran has a huge Shia majority - it is the fount of Shia Islam just as Saudi Arabia is the fount of Sunni Islam. The Iranian backed militia is known as Al-Quds and is Shia, as is the current Iraqi government. There is also a Lebanese militia active in Syria/Iraq, called Hezbollah ( حزب الله - 'the Party of God', 'the God Party'), which is also Shia. So, the short answer to your question is: because of sectarianism.

Australian Royal Commission into Child Abuse Annual Reporting
by Listener injw leaks (steven unthank) has listed on his website two annual reports that the austrailan bethel were required to lodge.
interestingly, they were one of only 11 organizations required to do so.there are a few interesting claims that the watchtower makes, this is from the 2019 report that they wrote -.
5. when elders learn of an accusation of child abuse, they immediately consult with the branch office of jehovah’s witnesses to ensure compliance with child abuse reporting laws.

10. Child abuse is a serious sin ...
^^^ This is the problem with the WTS and crux of the matter. Child abuse is a serious crime, not sin.
All incidents of child abuse must be reported to the police; all allegations of child abuse must be reported to the police.
Parents (i.e. normal parents who aren't brainwashed by the WT cult) don't even need mandatory reporting laws, state-by-state. It's not even an issue to them ... they know that child abuse is a serious crime and all allegations should be reported to the police.

More than 60 illegal migrants today in UK!!!
by The Fall Guy inhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-50916544.
kent refugee action network's bridget chapman, (idiot!
) who works directly with asylum seekers arriving by boat, said the home office's response was "disgraceful".

She said the government's "very tough talk" did not "take account of international law," - the UK government should take into consideration UK law only, nothing else.
She added: "There is no such thing as an illegal asylum seeker." - she's clearly talking out of her aris.
Soppy mare.

De Niro Wants To See A Bag of Sh*t On Trump’s Face
by minimus inhas this guy lost it?
who thinks like that?.
-
LoveUniHateExams
*sigh*
De Niro used to be an excellent actor. I like him in Taxi Driver (1976) and The Deer Hunter (1978).
He is obviously allowed his political opinion but it's high time he recognised that his opinion is no more important than Joe Blow's.
He should concentrate on his acting. When was the last decent film he appeared in?

Proportional Representation vs Electoral Collages
by Simon inthe craziness of first-past-the-post elections .... we'll no doubt have to now live through the scotts demanding another referendum, because we may take their lands, but we will never take their freedom!
and so they want to be free of the uk, where they have a disproportionate influence in parliament, and be a little dot that's part of the eu.
yup, freedom.. but anyway, as it stands right now they have 48 seats after getting 1.2m votes.

1. The UK election doesn’t include EU nationals or 16/17 year olds as the referendum did - quite rightly, I might add. Sixteen year olds have little-to-no life experience, they are typically still at school, they typically are still living at their parents' house, rent-free. And of course EU nationals who aren't UK citizens should be excluded. TBH, 16/17 year olds and EU nationals should have been excluded from the 2016 referendum.
2. Greens and some others from other parties also support [Scottish] independence - do you want to put that against support (either votes or seats) for parties who think the 2014 IndyRef should be respected, at least for the time being?
3. The latest opinion poll is 49% for independence - bwahahaha! You know that 49% is a minority, right?
4. We started the last campaign at 30% and finished at 45% - yep, this is a minority, too. Less than 1.3 million Scots voted for the SNP last week.
^^^ The above points to which I've responded are saturated with David Lammy-style logic and Diane Abbott-style mathematics.
independence looks pretty likely now - not immediately 'right now' ... as I've suggested, in about 10 or 15 years time, it would be reasonable to hold IndyRef 2.

I back Proportional representation of some sort for the whole of the U.K, if that came first, Independence as an issue may fade. I will not hold my breath, the Evil Tory Racist Government just elected by a broken system, would not stand a chance with P.R of getting a majority, so will resist it to the last - but proportional representation would also hit the SNP very hard ... no IndyRef Mk 2 in that case.
