  Witness weddings

  recently went to a witness wedding, and after the vows the bride and groom were introduced as "brother and sister".....(then last name).....(then the big kiss).

  this is likely not unusual (i've heard it before), but with lots of "worldly" people in attendance it seems out of place to me.. i was just wondering if that's the way it is most places?.

  i have a difficult dilemma.

  since i'm not pioneering any more, i'm reducing my hours wasted at that artifact known as cart or trolley.

  Thank you for the update on beards in Europe,

  For me there came to be the time to make a clean break

  I just figured I'd fade down to one hour a month with minimal

  meeting attendance

  I tried that then figured that I just needed more faith

  So I did my best again

  But that didn't sit right

  For ministry it's ok if it means driving around in a car group doing nothing

  But for me, if I'm conducting Studies and such I can't tell them partial

  truths

  That amounts to fraud

  More so from the platform

  "With great power comes great responsibility"

  I don't believe there's a painless way to leave this religion

  I lost my wife, adult children, grandchildren

  That's the carnage that comes from this religion

  It's very painful

  Some stay "in" for that reason, a kind of virtual prison

  Others just accept the pain as a necessary part of their lives

  I couldn'the live a lie anymore

  this "world event" is a few years away but i'm in the field so i work everyday to prepare for it.. our technology is advancing at an exponential rate.

  shit will hit the fan because of it.. even as a jw i knew this was coming.

  What did you regrettably not do because you were a Jehovah's Witness ?

  jehovah's witnesses cannot do a lot of things.

  i remember pioneers having to quit their jobs because they could not work in a convenience store and sell cigarettes.

  i know of a young man who was offered a scholarship to any college or university if he wanted to go to because of his football abilities.

  a bit of an update, last weekend was my great grandmothers funeral, now, she was never a jw, and never was going to be, no matter how hard my mother, and grandmother tried to preach to her, she was the type of person that would kindly accept a wt or a book, but she wouldn't bother reading them.. anyways, she was a great wonderful and inspiring woman, the funeral was extremely sad, she had been a school teacher for over 35 years and a member of various clubs, so there were a lot of folks besides family that attended.. well, anyways i was there and so was my jw mother, stepfather, and grandmother, we were cordial, didn't talk about anything jw related because, it was great grandmothers funeral, not really a time to discuss how i am an evil sinner, or how i've escaped the org by avoiding df'ing, right?

  wrong, as i'm sitting waiting for the service to begin, a lady shows up, now- i have known this woman for a long time, apparently she baby sat me as a small child, (like i remember?

  ) so she isn't someone i was ever close with, but knew of her or when she was around would say hi to and make small talk.. to give you a tid-bit on her personality though, she is one of those crazy jw's.. she claims to have been possessed by a demon, very very wacky on the prophesies, or gb talks, etc.

  The loss of my own grandmother was the hardest for me

  In regard to crazy lady

  Sane people even in the jdubs know she's crazy so I wouldn't worry

  Stay clear as much as you can and

  Make sure you know how to block numbers if necessary

  Also if it's not too much trouble and if you can do it privately:

  Find out her number

  Set her up as a contact so

  If she ever calls

  You will see her name on call display and you won't answer

  As I was reading your account I found it remarkable

  how well you held yourself together,

  Search and find some true meaning in my life, maybe join the Peace Corp,

  Since leaving 3 years ago I've travelled all over North America,

  volunteered for Feeding America, volunteered for

  Secular Outreach, played one charity concert for Cancer Research, played

  in two jazz bands, acted in several short films, started writing screenplays,

  If I had had stayed in I would've?? Well you know :)
