I am here. It is boring. Absolutely nothing special except perhaps watching a couple gb members running their mouths about keeping up, etc.

Shoot. I am going to go, too. My kid talked me into it saying if she has to sit through this crap she wants to at least have me there with her so she doesn't feel alone. Blech.

HeyThere
I will be there. My kid talked me into it. Plus I am a bit curious. I should be able to provide some updates as I plan to spend some serious time in the back room alone.

HeyThere
My child is begging me to go so I can plead to my husband to take us home after 30 minutes because of my medical situation so she doesn't have to sit through it all. Lol. Clearly she is looking forward to this special event.
I haven't attended a kh anything since june...no gatherings or anything. Some think it is my medical stuff ( i have another surgery coming up, too.) But there are some who know of my questioning and that I stopped going after that. So, ya I'm not going.
I think it is despicable that they are pressuring your sick elderly mother to attend. They just have no sense doing this.

As I move further away from theWT.....
by Viviane ini've, over the years, looked into many religions.
obviously, from those that have seen me post here, i've become an atheist simply because i couldn't find any reason to believe in god.
recently, though, over the past few months, a new change has started.

HeyThere
I am struggling with that at the moment. I have very fond memories of church as a child. I attended methodist primarily but a few others who were all independent churches who were involved in various humanitarian efforts and charity. I loved going on missions trips to help build schools and having holiday dinners where all the kids cooked a meal, adults came a paid for the meal as if at a restaurant and we used proceeds to feed the homeless. We had fun and helped others. It was a great experience.
However, my experience with the Jws caused me to research more and the more I researched the more I realized the bible is not only full of holes that I did not see as a youth, but also taking natural events and turning them into acts of god. As an educated adult I just can't believe these things. I consider myself agnostic now. There could be intelligent design, but I don't see how a loving God would continue to punish billions over time due to Adam and Eve's mistake.

Child sex abuse cases mentioned at weekly meeting?
by HeyThere inokay, tonight someone told me that one of the elders actually addressed the child sex abuse cases at the weeknight meeting this past week.
she said the speaker said that accusations are being made against the truth but that they should stand firm in the truth and that they are going to continue fighting these allegations and that all should stand firm for jehovah or some similar comments.... did anyone else hear this from the stage?.

More to add to my rant
I have not attended anything watchtower since June. My husband was actually shunning me for a period of time because I had questioned the org. Normal people just don't do that, this cult gets so deep with the emotions of the congregation that normalcy changes. It is unnerving.
We have been fine for the past few months, we just do not talk religion. A few days ago I asked if he heard about the recent case. He hadnt. I told him how the gb refused to provide documents and even to testify despite court orders. His response: they just don't want to be in the spotlight. So I said, to avoid the spot light they would risk contempt of court or losing millions of dollars? He shrugged. He does know the child abuse topic is one that convinced me to stop going. I pushed with one more statement about how there are many more cases in the pipeline all showing known child sex abusers were allowed to remain in the cong and more kids were harmed as a result. This whole issue and how so many JW's ignore it bothers me greatly.
Yes, there is always the option of focusing on the good and ignoring the bad. But that is how evil wins.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. (Edmond burke)
