I scan the site everyday almost. Comment on a few now and then. I'm atheist so religion doesn't interest me but the info. regarding the "God Delusion" pouring in is fascinating. Basically, I'm in a learning mode about - everything.

by Hairtrigger inwatched "the maze runner" this day.
couldn't help thinkng this could be an allegorical story on the wbts.
not as engrossing as "hunger games or "divergent", though along the same theme.

Question for the nonbelievers and atheists
by nykid inwhat specifically made you stop believing in god and the bible?
was it a steady road of doubts or it was reading one book or one major event that made you realize the bible was not what it's claimed to be?.

From what we know through archeology and science, different forms of life have existed on this earth at different time periods. One COMMON THREAD RUNS through their lives. Death. Species become extinct . Others take their place. This cycle along with death, is the only constant.
If there is a being who is creating life then he/ she /it is neutral about what species do here on this planet. If creating different forms of life is an experiment towards evolving creatures with an intended perfection level, then we are lab. guinea pigs.
Is the intended perfection level of life to come through the brain of homo sapiens? Or will there be yet another (and another and another) species of beings after homo sapiens die off?

Why would the creature who initiated the problem in Eden be allowed to live and prove a point ( when in open rebellion against god) when the duped ( who showed no rebellion except foolishness) were killed off? Not only was satan allowed to live, but given a free ticket to continue to tempt men who were already imperfect. The perfect ones couldn't resist him how were imperfect humans supposed to?
Why would the decendants of a singleman -when so many others existed at the same time- be singled out for special treatment by a neutral god -if indeed he was impartial. And why a fair skinned race of people while humans of a darker skin color were ignored?
And why spend over 3500 hundred years in trying to get the rest of the world to know him if he really wanted to be known as the true god?
These questions continued to plague me all the while I was a Witness.
Then suddenly I came upon the the contradiction between james 13 and Jobs problems. None could explain that . Discovered J.W.Facts and COC. That was it. The bible went out and with it the belief in a diety.

"The Ark Before Noah"
by Doug Mason inas well as providing new archaeological information, the book "the ark before noah: decoding the story of the flood" by irving finkel (published 2014) provides material for those of us who are interested in the neo-babylonian period.
for example, one subheading is: "why were the judeans in babylon?
" (page 226).. dr irving finkel is assistant keeper of ancient mesopotamian script, languages, and cultures at the british museum.

steve2. What I was trying to get at is that there is a trending attitude regards religion ( any- depending on one's taste) for some, which is more a fashion statement rather than a deep rooted conviction based on certain beliefs.( rational or otherwise).

In certain ethnicities, there is yet another emergening phenomenon regarding religion. An 18 year old girl was heard telling someone " I don't want to be a churchgoer because my family is. I want a different religion. I think I'm going to choose Buddhism because it is a cool religion." When asked for details she mentioned her aunt was a buddhist and she had found her to be a very pious person; with apleasant smelling house, full of incense burning etc. No doubt the aunt must have exerted a massive influence in indoctrinating her with that religions' philosophy, but the aspect of behavior I'm concerned with the illusory "freedom of choice " addendum that accompanies it. To a certain mindset, the idea is synonymous with the simple experience of buying a car.
