Random thoughts
by Soledad ini know how most of us, as ex-jws struggle with challenging our former beliefs, perceptions and fears.
in spite of our programming, we are able to overcome certain things, like the fear of being destroyed, celebrating holidays and birthdays, and in some cases letting go of old superstitions (smurfs!).
but how do you overcome beliefs about gender roles?

It's an Angel! - It's a Bird! - It's BuzzLight!
by Gerard infelix baumgartner, austrian skydiver, base jumper and general head case has become the first person to "fly" across the english channel, aided by nothing more then a carbon fibre fin, some oxygen and a parachute.
with the 1.8m wing strapped to his back, he leapt out of a plane at 9km above dover and soared across the 35km gap to calais in 14 mins.
quite fittingly, he chose the same landing zone as was used by the first ever solo cross-channel flight by louis bleriot who made the trip in 1909. .

IRB Rugby World Cup 2003
by Simon inirb rugby world cup 2003. following complaints made to the irb about the all blacks being allowed to motivate themselves by performing the 'haka' before their games, other nations were asked to suggest pre-match rituals of their own.
the irb rugby world cup 2003 organising committee has now agreed to the following pre-match displays:.
1.. the england team will chat about the weather, wave hankies in the air and attach bells to their ankles before moaning about how they invented the game and gave it to the world, and how it's not fair that everyone still thinks new zealand are the best team in the world.. 2. the scotland team will chant "you lookin' at me jimmy?

Fra Lippo Lippi
by RAYZORBLADE in.
i'm sure many of you are familiar with the poet/writer: robert browning.. ok, that's nice, but that's not what this thread is entirely about.. they're a band from norway, and were signed to virgin records back in the 1980s.. i discovered them, while i lived in southeast asia (philippines).. it's interesting, yet not surprising how we relate songs/music to a place we either lived or visited.. this band: fra lippo lippi - simply enamoured me.. to this day, i'm still turned to jelly by some of their music.. anyone here familiar with them?.
some of their better known songs: shouldn't have to be like that, angel, light and shade, everytime i see you (my favourite), tall trees bend - to name a few.. fra lippo lippi: heard of them?
