March 1st Botchtower - A "Slave Who Is Both Faithful and Discreet!"
by truthseeker invomit alert!.
if you can possibly digest one of the worst study articles the society has ever written, you will see just how devious and manipulative they are with past and present truth.. the two studys articles are from march 1st, 2004 watchtower.. i'll briefly (if that's possible!
) summarize both articles.

Ann, do you have the references for those articles?
Sure.
w95 2/1 p. 12 A Great Crowd of True Worshipers? From Where Have They Come? However, in 1923, in a convention discourse, J. F. Rutherford, then president of the Watch Tower Society, clarified the time for the fulfillment of the parable of the sheep and the goats. Why? In part, because the parable shows that the King?s brothers?at least some of them?would still be on earth. Among humans, only his spirit-begotten followers could truly be called his brothers. (Hebrews 2:10-12) These would not be on earth throughout the Millennium, affording opportunity for people to do good to them in the ways that Jesus described.?Revelation 20:6.w95 2/15 p. 8 There Will Be a Resurrection of the Righteous Despite the latest advances of medical science, death still rules as king even today. While this is no surprise, some may have been somewhat disappointed when they finally came face-to-face with this longtime enemy. Why? Well, back in the 1920?s, the Watch Tower Society proclaimed the message "Millions now living will never die." Who would these millions be? The "sheep" spoken of in Jesus? remarks about the sheep and the goats. (Matthew 25:31-46) These sheeplike ones were prophesied to appear during the time of the end, and their hope would be everlasting life on a paradise earth. w95 5/15 p. 18 Flashes of Light?Great and Small (Part 1) Increasing Flashes of Light Particularly since 1919 have Jehovah?s servants been blessed with increasing flashes of light. What a bright flash of light shone at the 1922 Cedar Point convention as J. F. Rutherford, the Watch Tower Society?s second president, drove home the point that the prime obligation of Jehovah?s servants is to "advertise, advertise, advertise, the King and his kingdom"! The very next year, bright light shone on the parable of the sheep and the goats. It was seen that this prophecy was to be fulfilled in the present Lord?s day, not in the future during the Millennium as previously thought. During the Millennium, Christ?s brothers would not be sick, nor would they be imprisoned. Besides, at the end of the Millennium, Jehovah God, not Jesus Christ, will do the judging.?Matthew 25:31-46.w95 10/15 p. 19 How Will You Stand Before the Judgment Seat? 4 We have long felt that the parable depicted Jesus? sitting down as King in 1914 and since then making judgments?everlasting life for people proving to be like sheep, permanent death for the goats. But a reconsideration of the parable points to an adjusted understanding of its timing and what it illustrates.22
Does this parable apply when Jesus sat down in kingly power in 1914, as we have long understood? Well, Matthew 25:34 does speak of him as King, so the parable logically finds application since Jesus became King in 1914. But what judging did he do soon thereafter? It was not a judging of "all the nations." Rather, he turned his attention to those claiming to make up "the house of God." (1 Peter 4:17) In line with Malachi 3:1-3, Jesus, as Jehovah?s messenger, judicially inspected the anointed Christians remaining on earth. It was also time for judicial sentence on Christendom, who falsely claimed to be "the house of God." (Revelation 17:1, 2; 18:4-8) Yet nothing indicates that at that time, or for that matter since, Jesus sat to judge people of all the nations finally as sheep or goats.
24 In other words, the parable points to the future when the Son of man will come in his glory. He will sit down to judge people then living. His judgment will be based on what they have manifested themselves to be.
26
Understanding the parable of the sheep and the goats in this way indicates that the rendering of judgment on the sheep and the goats is future. It will take place after "the tribulation" mentioned at Matthew 24:29, 30 breaks out and the Son of man ?arrives in his glory.? (Compare Mark 13:24-26.) Then, with the entire wicked system at its end, Jesus will hold court and render and execute judgment.?John 5:30; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10.
I remember thinking at the time how obvious the 'new thought' was. These 'flashes of light' are amazing, huh?

There were some predictions from some who knew Bethel insiders that the "slave"'s identity could change. I guess not, huh?
It's funny you should say that, Minimus!
Anyone remember the momentous year of 1995? In May of that year there was a trilogy of study articles on 'flashes of light' where the understanding of the 'sheep and goats' parable as going on in the present day was given as one of the proofs that Jehovah was blessing his servants the WTS. There were also references to the same understanding twice in February that year.
We know that viewpoint changed. When? That October! Complete U-turn only 5 months later!
Despite all the 'certainty' and bluster about the 'slave's' identity in this recent article, there could be 'new light' at any time. I'm ready for anything!

Very well-reasoned, ChristianObserver. I enjoyed reading that.
PS. One of the difficulties I have is reconciling the WTS view that the master has already arrived and appointed them over all the master's belongings. Seeing it from that perspective, 'all the master's belongings' are people - the master's slaves.
However, a master would own property, possessions, land, and not slaves only. If, according to other texts, Christ's belongings are heaven and earth and authorities, and his slaves are to be joint-heirs with him, how can the WTS think they have already been appointed over all his belongings?

Who is the best apologist all-time on this board?
by joenobody ini enjoy reading alot of the apologist's colourful posts on this board as well as witnessing their defeats at the hands of the likes of farkel and alanf.

I nominate scholar - he's full-of-himself, tremendously insecure (low self-esteem but tries to compensate), pompous, real entertaining when he's backed into a corner - blusters and makes personal attacks because he won't admit he can't give an adequate answer, yet a passionately loyal JW which is staggering because he bothers (against the WTS counsel) to come here and other taboo sites!
He's great.

Truthseeker, when I got my copy I too was disheartened and irritated. Knowing that there are study articles coming up that precede that one, to do with Bible chronology, 1914 and the urgency of the times (2 sets of articles on those) I definitely think you are exactly right on the button when you say
It is obvious that their authority is being challenged by those on the Internet. They feel the need to reinforce the dubs beliefs that they are God's channel as selected by Jesus. Clearly, they are being undermined by the relentless spread of information on the Internet.
The internet is the most pervasive medium we have - it is unprecedented - the world of questioning and discussion has opened up to the ordinary JW in a way that printed matter never could. Little wonder the GB are
concernedpetrified and need to flex their muscles. -

PLEASE HELP...baptisim nullification

He lives next door? Then there is hope. If you have been close previously and he constantly sees the children coming and going, then despite his initial rigidity, after a time his heart will overcome the petty rules and he'll become more balanced.
You may have done this already, but it might help to expain to the children that he loves them, but some people are telling him what to do and he thinks they are representing God's way and until he realizes that what they are telling him is wrong and he can decide for himself the extent to which he can see you, you are all to be patient and kind with him - you'll all still love him anyway and be there for him.

The dubs at "Witness World" are discussing UN involvement!!!!!
by somebodylovesme ini am a lurker on the "witness world" witnesses-only website.
they are having a discussion because someone during door-to-door service confronted them with the un letter.
they are all saying that it is "obviously made up"... but the person is planning on writing to the society to ask.

That was a fascinating history Eu! It filled in some gaps!
The names that are surfacing (like Coolwater) - I thought they disappeared, yet they show up here! I've lurked on Beliefnet before - great site. Perhaps that is the future of open JW discussion, if the board admins are impartial (neither pro- nor anti-). Whoever said it is right: the loyal boards can stagnate and the open-minded ones implode.
And thanks drwtsn for your reply. I meant copying the text only and pasting onto word, then pasting it from word to here, then posting the link so everyone can check the thread themselves it's a dumb idea isn't it forget it I'll slink into this corner...

That is just awful! I feel for you, sadeyez!
There it is again - the elders are telling him. No allowance for conscience. Besides, you ARE family! He has been your father since you were a baby. If he has only recently been reinstated, he'll be wanting to do everything 'by the book.'
Are your children DFed? No! It is their right to see their step-grandfather and vice versa.

w83 1/1 p. 31 Questions From Readers ***Another sort of loss may be felt by loyal Christian grandparents whose children have been disfellowshipped. They may have been accustomed to visiting regularly with their children, giving them occasion to enjoy their grandchildren. ... So things are not the same in the family. Of course, the grandparents have to determine if some necessary family matters require limited contact with the disfellowshipped children. And they might sometimes have the grandchildren visit them.
The extent to which he interprets that paragraph is up to him (I hope he will have a liberal view of the word 'necessary') - why do the grandchildren have to suffer? Apart from that, the WTS appear to have a 'tough and tender' approach to shunning. There'll be an article that is more lenient, then a few years later there'll be a hard-line one and so on, flip-flopping in severity. The last stringent directive was 2002 I think.
As for bapt. nullification - there are people more qualified than I here who'll help you, I'm sure. I hope you'll get some useful information.
All the best and WELCOME!
