Here goes the WT again, nitpicking over words and redefining words.
We do not use the word “rapture” here to describe this event because of its connection to Christendom’s false teaching.
Are you kidding me? So let me get this right, they had the same teaching all along and the WT flip flops on theirs and the other guys have the false teaching? This crap is getting too obvious.
This is like them saying, "We don't shun, we lovingly disfellowship our members" or "We aren't against higher education, we just don't recommend it" or any other FAQ on their website! All they do is take a negative word and try to spin it into something less.
I can't wait for a few months after this article to comment and be like "They have the hope of the rapture, I mean..." Make sure to say the rapture but then correct myself every time I have a chance.
i realize that many here still have a form of spirituality or faith, and i mean no disrespect to those individuals.
i suppose i am posting this question to those, like myself, who have come to the conclusion that religion in general is a major hindrance to the progress of our species and needs to be put aside so that we can advance to our full potential.
so my question is, do you think this will ever actually happen, and how do you think we can get there?
I don't mind people having a religious belief. It's completely up to them and if that is what they want, let them enjoy it.
What I don't mind is a religious person who feels the need to impose their belief on you and if they don't agree take it a step further. I'm all for religious freedom but when the religion does things to MAKE someone believe it or causes physical or emotional pain, I am not for it. A religion should not force someone to believe what they do and then give consequences if you don't agree.
Religion and a belief in god will always be around. I don't ever see it going away 100%.

its a pamphlet not a magazine!
only a few pages long with shallow articles.it felt like my "spiritual food" was now those cheap home delivered diet t.v meals!!
So do you all think it is a worldwide societal trend or just a JW one?
I think humans are a lot smarter today than ever. If I have a question I can have the answer in seconds. Never before in history could you do that. I know way more than I would have 20 years ago. Even video games gave me a certain type of thinking/problem solving skills and quick reactions.
The reason JW are getting dumb down is because of the control and knowledge control the GB want. If you let JW do too much of their own research and knowledge you start to get stuff like www.jwfacts.com. Any high control environment try's to stunt their people or keep them at a lower levels at all times.
It's hand holding at it's finest, except the GB try to grip as hard as possible.

where is it that there are several people sitting around discussing what they feel the bible text they are quoting means? or is it only the 'governing body' who has that right?
I've never seen a member do this. If they wonder what something means they crack open the WT Library. Only the GB can interpret scriptures. Try going to a KH and telling an elder what you think a verse means, they'll tell you to do research and by research they mean WT Library.

It's true! I remember even back when I use to go door knocking (about 10 years ago), the instructions we would get if someone wanted actually discuss doctrine was to say goodbye because they were most likely "apostates". Always thought that was weird, I know realize the truth is that if we were to discuss doctrine it would have been us seeing TATT and not the other person joining us.
If you think about it, what's the point of just reading the bible and studying it as a JW. You can't draw any other conclusion besides what the GB teach and think. You're better off just reading their literature and looking up the quoted scriptures. That's exactly what they want and exactly how it's set up.
As for defending their beliefs, I agree. They know they can't put a fight up and with so much on the internet that shuts down what they believe a JW will leave the door at a loss.
In the past, know one had access to the internet or their history. A JW would teach and argue what they were told to believe and the history they were told happened. The householder had no other information or nothing to present. That's all changed now. This is why they are now told just to leave because the JW will be leaving the door scratching their head thinking, "This wasn't how the Thursday night demo went?"
Even in public witnessing we are specifically told not to discuss doctrine issues. If someone comes up asking to direct them to the website.
It's sad but the preaching work is actually probably starting to make them lose members vs gain them.
i'm sure some kind of arrangement was made, some of the uber dubs in a panic as to what they would do if the couldn't get to their meeting tonight.
probably bumped it up a few hours so they wouldn't be out at night for those that live in the middle of what's going on..

The whole JW religion has been dumbed down. Most can't/wont even put up a fight at the door or try and defend their beliefs.
Deep personal bible study is a thing of the past. I don't know hardly any that do it besides a few old timers. Now study is going to JW.org or watching JW Broadcasting.
People 40 and younger for the majority just don't have an interest in the bible anymore.

My guess is they will only have 3-4 LARGE Bethel's and shut down all the mini ones. US Branches, Canada and the UK one. There really is no need for all of these Bethel's since everything is going digital.
Media is rapidly changing and they are still behind. They can't even embrace social media because the second they make a YouTube channel, FB or Twitter you can only imagine the down votes and comments it will get.
They have an uphill battle and this may be a consolidation move to close down all the smaller branches. Who knows.
i am sitting at the recent assembly, bored out of my mind (have you ever heard anyone call these things fun?

he starts off with an illustration.
