in the posts about the australian royal commission there have been several references to discussions on jw-archive.

i'd not heard of that site, so checked it out.

it seems to be used by many active jws - its tumblr style archive is full of pictures of jws doing their thing.

I love these comments. All of you are as mad as hatters and smart at the same time.

Just spoke with my D associated sis, she is still very defensive of this religion. The discussion was just plain tense, so tense and I know it's because she might still believe that this is the truth and this is a worldly Satanic attack on the society.

Never had such a tense discussion like that before in a long time. Her daughter is a full in JW along with her husband.

So, you never know how anyone is going to respond to unflattering revelations about WTland.

Child Abuse- A universal problem -for example, in Pakistan

while the australian royal commission may be the focus of our attention at the moment, we should not forget that this is a much wider problem.

previous official investigations in australia (inquiring into church run homes for kids)have revealed horrible examples of abuse, as have similar investigations in canada and ireland.. and international news today reports on this mass incident in pakistan.

and if some may want to see this as a muslim problem, then please do a search and find that similar things happen in india.. the hongkong based asia times reports:.

Wow fulltimestudent. That would be something to read. And yes, there is this global problem of abuse of many kinds toward children.

I have always known this. The RC in this instance is useful to many who truly believed in the doctrines they were taught and the wonderful spin of the WTBTS.

In this specific RC it was to have a damned good look at a religion that claims charity status. I found a letter sent to WT Australian on the RC site, and it clearly states how to turn certain funds into............only a donation. This was in order to get around some potential problems facing WT over here. Went a bit off track there. The main thing is that we all know of this problem, it's just a bit hard to take from any religion claiming to have the knowledge and means to assist others to spiritual wellness, or everlasting life.

Royal Commission... Monty Baker?

i see a former elder by the name of monty baker on the royal commission's witness list.

transcripts show a lawyer representing monty baker during the hearings, but so far i see no transcript where monty baker has testified before the commission.

am i missing something?

You will notice then as you listen in, that his testimony wasn't much to sing about.

To me he sounded as though he was WT mentally in, or there was some need to not reveal a whole lot of useful information. I would like to know what others thought of is this none event.

I hope it happens, then feel a sick feeling that GJackson, GB member, will find some way out of it. Most people have been of the opinion that this will not happen.

All I do is hope that the small post I found, was indeed true. That he will be before the RC and some serious problems can be addressed.

Dumplin: It came to the Justice's attention that they had been mislead as to the role and functions of Mr Jackson. They had accepted the illness of his father for a while, but they had also been misled about his status...A GB is next to God, at meetings, they pray to God thanking Him for the GB and their god given knowledge and right to rule..........(.that last bit was just me being nasty and angry) Seriously, in the meeting I have attended this year, it is incredible how the GB have replaced entirely.........the son of god.

I keep scrolling through every reddit, every JW friendly site, JWs on facebook who love the GB, tumblir, everything I can find to see where his name comes up....On the link I gave there was very little about Jackson, but I had established this was a very devoted sort of jw wiki thing.........to get further I would need to join. I can't, I'll puke if I have to go around bullshitting my way in. Even twitter had some information on him....but it was the site I posted that rang true. There has been nothing but support for our dear Brother Geoffrey Jackson.

Perhaps he is a nice man. Yet, that is not sufficient to allow for him to deliberately claim ignorance....Someone posted a fantastic post about how the JW religion behaves and how it should not toward those who are molesters....

Don't forget that Justice McClellan established early in the proceedings that there is a redress that is expected to come out of this....This is regardless of what they promise to do in the future. There were lies about the past and terrible things done to children. This is not about simply changing the future. It's about sorting out something for the past wrongs.

I recall feeling very good at hearing this, for there are many who's lives really are wrecked by what has happened.

All excellent observations of Angus Stewart. He doesn't go on the attack does he?...He first establishes if he has understood some aspect of this religions teachings and actions and beliefs., He even refers to the bible for support, quoting the scriptures they all know, hell we all have heard them.... By now, the elder or what ever is feeling cosy in bible land or should I say WTland..............Stewart then topples the entire basis of these elders actions into complete disarray. And he does this with his cool and largely unreadable facial or physical expressions. He is so hard for these men to anticipate.

Add to that, he has. with the consent of the elders; established the "sins" that are so wrong as to merit disfellowshipping, such as adultery, smoking, lying etc.... He proceeds to show how inconsistent, flawed, cruel.... incredible even; is their form of applying God's laws....So flawed indeed,that a child merits nothing, compared to the adultery or lying, or some other sin.

The clincher was in how he revealed, without having to say it. That in reality, the excuse given for disfellowshipping her father had been kept so deliberately hidden, for a purpose...And that purpose could only be one of two. One, to keep the society looking squeaky and better than anyone else in the realm of child sexual abuse.. Or two; They didn't give a dammed about the rights of a child being sexually abused. Which one would they choose?

There was no way out of the trap. I fell in love with Stewart from day one........spiritually speaking of course ahem.....
