Get this! I just spoke with dad and generally mentioned the change again about the organ transplant and how in '67 it was considered cannibalism. But how now its a conscience matter. He said he doesn't care about stuff like that.. ideas change all the time w/ new understanding. He says he is talking about main doctrines like.. armageddon ...Trinity...etc.. the MAIN doctrines. He said " I have no need to be thinking about the organ transplant anyway." I said. " dad..its not about only the big things.. its the little things too. If the WT and AWAKE were written by GB that is directed by Holy Spirit they shouldn't be changing so much. He said " yeah.. your brother is always saying stuff like that.." they are always changing stuff". " You could tell he didn't really want to get into it nor did he really seem to care that they waver on so many 'little' things. He called it just a 'new understanding'. Like.. parents used to think it was okay to spank.. but under NEW UNDERSTANDING they have changed their parenting style.

The celebration of christmas has changed, It was once thought to be very appropriate to celebrate, and it was even suggested in many wt publications to give WT books as gifts.

Additionally the society thought the jesus died on a cross, the earlier watchtowers all have crosses on the cover of them and many old books have pictures of jesus on a cross.

Additionally, the watchtower taught that the Great pyramid in egypt was gods stone witness and they later changed there view claming it was designed by satan.

    1874 to 1914 Christ's presence (changed in 1943)

1878 to 1918 Resurrection of deceased anointed

1881 to 1914 Jesus begins to rule as king

1914 to future Armageddon would begin

1925 Destruction of earthly wicked, resurrection of Abraham, Isaac, David (other "ancient worthies") as perfect men to rule in Jerusalem.

    Resurrection

Adam and Eve and Judas would be per Russell; changed under Rutherford

People of Sodom and Gomorrah have been in and out of Gehenna several times

Great tribulation started in 1914 and was interrupted to begin in the future (1970 changed)

Superior authorities (1879-1929, secular authorities; 1929-1962, God and Jesus; 1962 to now, secular authorities)

    Birthdays/Christmas were celebrated until 1926.

A cross was on the cover of the WT until 1931.

Pyramid of Egypt was used to determine Bible chronology.

1914 Generation doctrine changed in 1995

Alternative service now a conscience matter

    ***Proclaims book

chap. 14 "They Are No Part of the World" ***

This Christmas celebration at Brooklyn Bethel in 1926 was their last. The Bible Students gradually came to appreciate that neither the origin of this holiday nor the practices associated with it honored God

For years, Bible Students wore a cross and crown as a badge of identification, and this symbol was on the front cover of the "Watch Tower" from 1891 to 1931. But in 1928 it was emphasized that not a decorative symbol but one’s activity as a witness showed he was a Christian. In 1936 it was pointed out that the evidence indicates that Christ died on a stake, not a two-beamed cross

In their "Daily Manna" book, Bible Students kept a list of birthdays. But after they quit celebrating Christmas and when they realized that birthday celebrations were giving undue honor to creatures (one reason that early Christians never celebrated birthdays), the Bible Students quit this practice too

For some 35 years, Pastor Russell thought that the Great Pyramid of Gizeh was God’s stone witness, corroborating Biblical time periods. (Isa. 19:19) But Jehovah’s Witnesses have abandoned the idea that an Egyptian pyramid has anything to do with true worship. (See "Watchtower" issues of November 15 and December 1, 1928)

I've just finished reading a great examination of the development of JW doctrine from Russell thru the modern day: Counting the Days to Armageddon by Robert Crompton.

    Good.. you liked the book?

I thought the generation doctrine should be a bigger deal for most JW's than it seems to be. For years they stated very plainly that it was a PROMISE of jah and jesus that the generation of 1914 WOULD NOT PASS AWAY. It seems like god reneged on his promise.Hard to trust a god like that or maybe the GB was just full of S**T

research the doctrinal changes regarding Jesus being mediator only for the FDS now instead of for all mankind. thats a biggie.

They changed stuff like the FDS may or may not be spirit directed or they may or may not be prophets , I think the great crowd is now allowed to work in the writing department .The beast in revelation was satanic but then when they joined as an NGO was placed there by God as stated by the apostle Paul about secular authorities . I guess that means the ban on joining worldly organizations became a conscious matter .

The biggest most recent is the generation issue(well UN wasn't bad but you'd have trouble finding wt articles as evidence).

Do your own research so you are confident. jw cdrom has all you need but

Do you seriously believe your dad is going to say ohmygod youré right?!!

He is indocrinated to believe that all opposition is apostate.
