Just thought this was an interesting quote!

Does the Watchtower "deny" its own for "legal" purposes? *** km 2/89 pp. 3-4 Our Identification as Jehovah’s Witnesses *** Our Identification as Jehovah’s Witnesses As ministers of the good news, we are known publicly as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Our voluntary participation in the field service is motivated by love of God and neighbor. It is not carried on at the insistence of any man or organization but is according to our God-given commission to preach the “good news” and make disciples. (Matt. 24:14; 28:19, 20) Therefore, publishers do well to avoid representing themselves as agents or representatives of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., or any other corporation used by “the faithful and discreet slave” to advance Kingdom interests.—Matt. 24:45-47. In case of an accident or an emergency or if problems are encountered while working trailer parks, apartments, or certain other territory, publishers may need some form of personal identification beyond giving their name along with a brief Scriptural explanation of the nature of our religious work. If questioned, or when asked for credentials, baptized publishers may use the identification card (S-65) signed by the presiding overseer, which shows one is preaching the good news of the Kingdom in association with the local congregation named on the card. A supply of identification cards (S-65), which may be issued to baptized publishers when there is a need, will be included with the annual shipment of congregation forms. If any publishers use a personal name card in connection with their field service activities, they should not print thereon that they are representatives of the Watchtower Society.

Even if they don't actually deny them they are certainly ashamed of them if one of them gets their name in the newspapers for something that isn't particularly flattering to the WT.

I heard of this when someone I know got their name in the paper because of an "accident" of sorts. One of the local brothers called their family and wanted to know if the name of the JWs was mentioned. This family member in turn called me to express their disappointment in the fact that all they seemed to care about was their image.

Oh, yeah. And they're allegedly trying to set it up so that each KH is an independent "entity", so that when it comes to the Child molestation cases that HEADQUARTERS ADVISED THEM ON, Each KH will be hung out to dry as an independent legal entity. Hosed by the very entity that advised them to cover it up. Ironic, is'nt it?

    Interesting.

Brooklyn recently re-classified itself from World Headquarters, to Branch Office in the USA. I wonder if that has something to do with wiggling out of legal responsibility, too....

    That is stupid!

Who publishes The Watchtower and Awake! magazines that the Witness offers at the door....the WTBTS!

Who publishes the books that are also offered at the door?...the WTBTS!

So the Witness is going from door to door promoting the publications of the WTBTS, but there is to be no implication of any representation of the WTBTS by the Witness? If there is no representation of the Watchtower Publishing Corporation by the JW offering their publications, then why ARE they offering WT publications exculsively? It would be like the Fuller Brush salesman going door to door selling Fuller Brush merchandise, but saying he does not represent the Fuller Brush Corporation...he does! As he is acting, in a de facto manner, as their sales agent! What the Watchtower says about preaching is a commission given by Jesus rings false, as ALL the material that is presented at the door by the JW is PUBLISHED by The Watchtower corporation! The JW does indeed act as an agent of the WTBTS in distributing its publications.

The WTBTS does not want any legal implications in the case the Witness gets into trouble in the field work....like becoming involved as a party in a trespassing case for instance.

Years ago it was quite common for publishers to say at the door, "We are representatives of the Watchtower Bible and Track Society"....but now that is not to be said anymore at the door!

The main reason they don't want JWs to say they are agents or representatives of the WTS is to prevent the WTS from being legally liable in the event the JW does something stupid and gets sued.

Basically the WTS is demanding JWs go door-to-door on a regular basis but does not want any responsibility. When something goes wrong the WTS just hangs them out to dry… and sadly most JWs are so brainwashed that they are more than willing to "fall on their sword" for the WTS.

    The Watchtower...."denies" it's "own"...at all times...

The bOrg "collective" has no interest in any individual...PERIOD!

    Elsewhere:

You are so right about their attitude that you should "fall on your sword", etc. Not for them I wont!

While I do realize that we are all on our own essentially with regard to salvation in general, the WT wants to have it both ways. They want you to feel that you are part of a "brotherhood" obviously because THEY benefit from this false belief in the sense that you might contribute money and give help, etc.

But, let something go wrong and you are cut loose literally.

Since this is so wrong and so very un-Christlike I cannot help but feel that they and any other organization is unnecessary and undesirable.

That's not the job of the WTBTS: it's the ANGELS' job to protect JWs in the preaching work!

(And good luck suing an invisible spirit being in court for negligence and damages, LOL!)
