This "inspection", upon which The Watchtower obtains ALL of its authority, sounds like something added to the Bible! and if it is not in the Bible, how do they know it happened

Let's see, the clergy were judged adversely because they had persecuted God's people, who had not as yet been chosen as God's people? So when Jesus came in 1918 to choose a people to represent him on earth, it was already predetermined who the people of God were and they had already been persecuted? So what was he there to do again?

I guess when he checked out Columbia Heights, Brooklyn NY in 1918, Jesus also was deligthed with their cross-in-crown logo, their celebration of Christmas, their 1925 end-of-world prediction (complete with the installation of Jerusalem as the capital of the New World, complete with the resurrection of the ``ancient worthies" ), since all of these survived the inspection!.
You have ta read between the lines.
It was a big topic though in most of Rutherford's books.

To which temple, though, did he come? Clearly not to a literal temple in Jerusalem. The last of those temples was destroyed back in 70 C.E. Jehovah does have, however, a greater temple that was foreshadowed by that at Jerusalem. Paul spoke of this greater temple and showed how grand it truly is, with a holy place in heaven and a courtyard here on earth. (Hebrews 9:11, 12, 24; 10:19, 20) It is to this great spiritual temple that Jehovah came for a judgment work.—Compare Revelation 11:1; 15:8.
When did this happen? According to substantial evidence available, in 1918.
And for the "substantial evidence" you just have to follow the footnote to 1918 which says: "For further information, see the June 15, 1987, Watchtower, pages 14-20." So lets have a look at that:

Suddenly, Jehovah, as "the true Lord," came to his spiritual temple. When? The pattern was set in the first-century fulfillment. Back there Jesus came and cleansed the temple three and a half years after he was anointed as King at the Jordan. True to that pattern, since Jesus was enthroned as King in the autumn of 1914, it seems reasonable that three and a half years later he would be expected to accompany "the true Lord" Jehovah to the spiritual temple.

From the quotations Blondie provided, it appears that The Watchtower just flatly states that Jesus made and inspection in 1919.
The Watchtower made up this invisible "inspection", tying it in with the release from prison of Rutherford and others, merely to say that they are the ones chosen by Jesus.
Rutherford wasn't going to let those months he spent in prison go to no purpose! Use them as the basis to show that he and The Watchotwer are the only approved religion by Jehovah and Jesus.
This "inspection" concept/doctrine is the result of a very big, pompous, boastful, and inflated ego!

So thre is no basis for any inspection, or that Jesus made any "choice" at all. This idea was just pulled out of the air by The Watchtower!
I wonder who come up with the idea, Rutherford himself, or Fred Franz?
