Let alone atheists, better to say rational people. Just cause you don't believe in God doesn't mean you aren't susceptible to irresponsibility.

daunt, i know, i know. but i am a fundamentalist atheist. why would i be fair in this matter, when there is much propaganda to spread? if only i had a small carribean island to dictate over... he he, LOL, (true what you say, of course...) TS

but I (in ALL my imperfection, yet made in 'God's Image') could not stand by and see someone suffer and die. And why? To prove a point to someone I could wipe out anyway? I think not.

Bravo! This is the same conclusion I've come to within the past few years. What kind of rabid beast would this alleged god have to be to let things come to this? Why would he make us all guilty for the "crime" of Adam and Eve? Why would he require Christ to suffer and die in order to forgive us for our sins rather than basing forgiveness on our works?

The whole things sounds like a load of crap. If he is real, he's DEFINITEY playing games with us. There's no love behind any of it. It seems that such a being would be using us for entertainment purposes only, because if he truly loved us he would not, under ANY circumstances, allow us to suffer over a trivial bet.

    Absolutely what Terry said.

Those who think God answers their prayers please tell me why he doesn't answer the prayers of Nigerien children.
Do they even know how to say their prayers? Oh, yeah, I forgot it's their fault.
Or the fault of their parents.
Or at least the children's politicians are to blame.
Or at least our politicians are to blame because "it was pointless to wait until pending famine in Niger turned into a humanitarian catastrophe."
    No?
Ok, so it all doesn't matter because God gave these children an immortal soul, right?
So we shouldn't give a damn when they are born and starve to death at the age of 2?
We should? I get it now - we should, God shouldn't. Let me see what I can do... Ok, I'll wire 20 bucks to this charity which organizes food supplies for Niger. And what will the Almighty do?
Oh I see he's busy answering 100% of your prayers.
    Makes perfect sense now.
Now, why can't you people be honest for a second? Just admit you have no idea why your God at least comes across as such an uncaring and hardhearted b****?

Is this too blasphemous for you? Sure - go back to making up more lies and self-delusions. As Terry said: BLAME THE VICTIM!

tetra...perhaps you are right that those that discard the believe of God/Satan for whatever reason are more in tune with their responisibilities as they realise that it's up to them to make a difference.

In answer to the original question of the post, I would have to say yes. There are those who would disagree with me saying that there is the ransom sacrifice, etc. but I have a problem with something. His "loving" provision is passive and not active. Of course, some will argue about how we have free will. Well, free will without having accurate facts laid out is not fair at all. Not to mention the fact that we have but so many years to live and therefore just so many chances to exercise this free will, etc. If you waste several decades in a wrong pursuit because you were misled then you have that much less time to find the "right way". You see? None of this is fair and I could go on and on with examples.

I had read somewhere that there might be proof that humans lived much, much longer than is currently believed. It makes it almost sound as if god did this all before (who knows how many times) and decided to do it yet again. We are just captives to an awful experiment that he is going to keep doing till he gets it right. There are those who might say that I should be grateful that I even have life no matter what the real story is. Well, that may be true. I AM grateful for my life but I have a real problem believing that god is really a loving god.

It all sounds too brutal to me.

According to the gospel mankind was given a way out of their troubles but they refused to follow through the opened door

How about the millions who DID follow throughn the opened door? Why do all christians who went through the door.....suffer, starve, and die......just like everyone else? You say god made a way out yet his way out didn't change one thing.

Those who did follow through the opened door truly and whole heartedly, don't ever complain, you silly. They accept atrocities as part of God's big game, which as greedawn said will not last too long. "Hopefully", she said. What a relief.
Seriously, what a totalitarian argument. Communists must feel ashamed. "Mankind was given a chance"? Whaaat? You mean a bunch of fantasizing Jews in the 1st century?

    Tetra:

it can be easily be argued that atheists take more responsibility personally and socially for the ills in the world, than theists do.

Excuse me? Ya wanna argue that from facts instead of fiction? Why is it that the majority of assistance programs happen to have been created by religions? Whilst many have been taken over by the State, they still continue to run their own to augment this.

As ya know, I'm not that big on religion, but I've gotta give credit where credit is due...

its the least they can do given they are responsible for much that ails our world.
