So... if the U.S. Supreme Court says the confiscation of personal property is fine, if the community will gain, then-

WHY DOESN'T SOMEONE PLAN A SUPER MALL, HOTELS, PARKING, OFFICES, etc. WHERE BROOKLYN BETHEL SITS?

TIME TO EVICT THE HUCKSTERS (TAX FREE BUSINESS VS. LOCAL REVENUE).

    Thoughts.....

You can bet your sweet bippy that the neighbourhood residents in the "DUMBO" area will likely consider this ruling as a way of getting the WTS out of their area. For years, they have shouldered the tax burden while the WTS acquired more and more property in the area, and getting it re-zoned as tax exempt under religious pretenses.

Disclaimer: I really don't know what your "bippy" is, and I have no idea if it's sweet or not.

    Scully-

After reading the "DUMBO" posts on this board and in the published URLs that's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe there are others ready to pounce on them too. Should make things active for J.R. Brown - not that the current slew of law suits is a cake walk. The call is out for more lawyers and accountants.

Just the other day, I was thinking that this issue could be the catalyst for some New Lightâ„¢ regarding JWs being encouraged to vote in political elections in the near future.

Hmmmm, a million potential voters on a Constitutional amendment - would that be enough voters to tip the balance?

    Scully Excellent!

New Light on Romans 13 for the 8th time (Blondie - how many times?) and there we go into "mainstream." I hope HQ is watching.

Maybe if they all lived and voted in Brooklyn Heights, NY. But spread out across all the various electoral districts in the USA, they probably wouldn't amount to anything more than a blip on the radar screen.

But then again, if JWs were permitted to vote, that would open the way for them to run for political office too. That kind of political power held by JWs, in an area like DUMBO, would definitely make for some raised eyebrows.

I think a lot of JWs are going to view this ruling as "proof" that the Government is about to turn on religion.

Imagine if the Government decided to get its hands on all that currently tax-exempt property in Brooklyn, NY that's owned by the WTS to make way for commercial development? I wonder how long it will be before the WTS decide that it was OK for JWs to vote in political elections once the potential impact of this ruling sinks in?

BTW - Is there an address where shit disturbers helpful citizens like ourselves can send a suggestion to the DUMBO residential association??

    What a SWEET idea!

It kind of gives you hope for the future on mankind, doesn't it?

Imagine every Kingdom Hall replaced by a Wal-Mart, providing employment and tax revenue for the local populace.

I have it on good authority that my bippy is semi-sweet.

They don't have any respect for their local community to give something to improve it in some respect. Other big businesses do have an ethical code for helping the local community.
