2002 after the Dateline special I made a sign up that read:

Jehovah's Witnesses Stop Sending Child Molester To Our Doors

This was at the main entance and was for the public traffic and incomming JWs to read by the sign welcoming the JW to thier convention.

Notice they never touched you? I was working attendant duties one year when a drunk guy wandered into the arena. He wasn't bothering anyone, but he stumbled part way down the steps and sat down right in the middle of the steps, mumbling stuff over and over. Me and several other attendants cordoned off the area and kept the rank and file away from him and kept watch until the cops came. I remember the head of the attendants warned us quite sternly to not touch the guy. If he got violent then only attendants that he assigned could try to subdue him; everyone else, hands off.

What would happen if you sat there, read an "apostate" book and the attendants asked you to leave and you refused? They're gonna have you arrested? Let em. You're sitting there reading quietly, not bothering anyone. The assemblies are open to the public, all are welcome. What are they going to arrest you for? Let em call the cops, let the cops come, let the entire audience see that some guy sitting, minding his own business is being harrassed. Many will dismiss it, but ya never know, someone watching might start to wonder why brute squad tactics are used to get one lone quiet non-believer to leave.

    UC,

I was arrested for attending the congregational meeting where I was quiet. I was first harased by an overly zealous newly appointed elder. He's wieghed about 350 lbs about 6' 5" or more. I was sitting directly in front of the speaker. He is so big that he never can sit next to a person in the hall because he takes up to much space. Well he sat down right next to me which pushed me to the side, he purposely envaded my space to try and intimidate me. I told him in his ear I thought he was an asshole and that the friends were watching him and probable thought the same thing. He got up after a few minutes of this harasment and came back in a couple of minutes with the ultimatum that I leave, I told him no way he siad that they would call the cops, I said go right ahead. They did. They had aleast 6 cops and about 3 or 4 patrol cars. The cops came to the front and asked me to leave I refused and they arrested me. I was able to have the bully elder arrested for psuhing me but the other elder came to his rescue by lying so they releaseed him. I got into a nice conversation with the police. they confied with me that this big guy was crying like a baby.

I was arrest for tresspassing and disturbing a religious meeting, by the Mountain View police.

The reason why they had so many cops to confront me was because the elders were very nervous and told the cops I was very strong and could be dangerous, that's what a rather nice young officer told me. He agreed that I was very strong and that he could tell when I allowed him to put me in a 3 point restraint, I have lots of musle tone. BTW I'm only 5' 7" and 170 lbs, but it is mostly musle, and explosive energy from years of hard work, hiking, and genetics.

This makes me think back to when I was about 14 and about 110lbs, I was always getting into fight with bullies, I would never back down. Well this guy, we were semi friends, he was about 6' and 200lbs, started to get in my face and we went to exchanging blows, I got a bloody nose, but because he had reach I couldn't connect any to his face. Well about 3 or 4 days latter were friends again and we go swiming. He takes off his shirt and all his chest and arms are full of big black and blue welts, I ask him what on earth happened, he told me that was from me when we fought, he never tried to bully me ever again.

I can see them having you arrested in a Kingdom Hall...it is private property and even if they invite the public in, they can still remove anyone they don't like.

They can probably have you arrested in a rented building like at an assembly, depending on the circumstances. However, if someone is at an assembly, sitting there, talking to no one, making no distrubance what so ever, all they're doing is reading a book that is not part of the program and they threaten to have them arrested, I'd tell em to go ahead and call the cops. When the cops come and they get all the details, and if they are good, quality cops, they're gonna ask the person to leave to just keep the issue from escalating, but at the same time, it's going to give the JWs a bad name to the cops. The JWs got what they wanted, the "apostate" removed, but they also got a black eye as far as the police are concerned. They don't forget stuff like that. It could also help any other observers, interested ones for instance, see how JWs deal with even the slightest dissention.

I believe a covert operation is still more effective. Consider this op:

Two persons. Both dressed as JWs badges and all. #1 apostate distributes tracts and checks through out. The mode could be to distribute information by slipping it inot Bibles and seats randomly all around the seating area. This could be done under the guise of "looking for my seat" before the morning session and during the mid-day break. During the session, #1 could be stuffing the restrooms.

#2 apotate is seated near the "watchers". Seating is usually easy to find because they are in the nose-bleed area.

The watchers are teams of two brothers stationed at high points in the seating area and often in the private boxes above the general seating. The watchers are easy to locate because one is always scanning the audience with binoculars while the other observes the general scene and communicates with other watcher teams via two-way radio. They wear "Attendant" badges with a black dot.

#2 monitors the watchers radio communication and tells problems to #1 via cell phone with ear pieces. This gives #1 the chance to exit without direct identification. That also leaves #2 to take over #1's activities.

I have an idea for a big effect, that can be had by a couple of people that don't mind getting escorted out of the convention:

Make up a banner small enough to be put in a bag for refressment it could be out of durable cloth about 2.5 feet wide and 10 to 20 feet long, with sticks glued to each end about 3 feet in lenth. Since they can't touch you in any way you can use this to your advantage. come early enough to find the best spot. Durring the highlights of one of the session unroll it for all too see. You should be able to keep it in visible site for over an hour befor the cops come.
