thats a brilliant letter, i wish i had you on my side in my judical it was a joke!
let us all know what happens, it should get that dave guy thinking at least. Golden girl is right i want all the witnesses to see it too.
it must scare them or AT LEAST make them think when someone so obviously strong in it leaves (and talks such sense!)
one question tho, how come they were coming after you after ten years?

They were coming after me after such a long time because I'd left my wife and begun living with another woman.
I never questioned that they had reason to DF me, if I was still a JW. The point of the letter is that I'm fighting that I had long ago left the JWs, and what I did was none of their business.
Their contention was that I had been very prominent as a JW in my state, and as such, was still viewed as a "brother" by many.

It took me 10 hours, sitting on my deck with a laptop, time I was actually supposed to be devoting to getting a magazine article written! I printed out eight copies, one for each elder, and hand delivered them that evening to the elder "Dave" in the letter. He promised me that each elder would get a copy. I hope he followed through.
I posted here in the hopes that it might get used a bit more than a handful of elders (if that) seeing it.
I also sent along a short cover letter, the tone of which I regret because it was too sarcastic. I'd change that now if I could to make it a bit less caustic.

I cant say anything except that I wish that upon my departing I was not as brainwashed as I was. The confused state as one of the "fatherless children" I never really got how it all worked. I just dealt with the sheeeit as it got handed to me and THEN, stood there and said, "Please sir may I have a bit more!"
Maybe we should keep this letter at the top for a bit.
