    Great idea TS...

I like your list. Elliot Smith and Jeff Buckley are two of my favorites.

I'll add Nick Drake and the entire Pink Moon album. I discovered it shortly after I left and it was very comforting. Each song is like gentle hug from a stranger. I think its Drake's voice...totally dreamy and just plain awesome.

And I think all three of these guys died in some tragedy and way too young. What a strange coincidence.

Kittie...you mentioned Metallica's Unforgiven earlier in this thread...and agree with you....have you heard Unforgiven2 which is a follow on?....the first was about being trapped in a system or organisation which was oppressive and restrictive...the second is about finding a person or people who have suffered the same...pertinent do you not think?

Lay beside me, tell me what they've done
Speak the words I wanna hear, to make my demons run
The door is locked now, but it's open if you're true
If you can understand the me, than I can understand the you
Lay beside me, under wicked sky
The black of day, dark of night, we share this paralyze
The door cracks open, but there's no sun shining through
Black hearts scarring darkness still, but there's no sun shining through
No, there's no sun shining through
    No, there's no sun shining

What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you

    Yeah
What I've felt, what I've known
Sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, 'cause I'm the one who waits for you
    Or are you unforgiven too?

Lay beside me, this won't hurt, I swear
She loves me not, she loves me still, but she'll never love again
She lay beside me, but she'll be there when I'm gone
Black hearts scarring darker steel, yes, she'll be there when I'm gone
Yes, she'll be there when I'm gone

    Dead sure she'll be there

What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you

    Yeah
What I've felt, what I've known
Sick and tired, I stand alone

Could you be there, 'cause I'm the one who waits for you
    Or are you unforgiven too?

Lay beside me, tell me what I've done
The door is closed, so are your eyes
But now I see the sun, now I see the sun
    Yes, now I see it

What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you

    Yeah
What I've felt, wha I've known
So sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, 'cause I'm the one who waits
The one who waits for you

Oh, what I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you
    So I dub thee unforgiven

    Oh, what I've felt
    Oh, what I've known

    I take this key
And I bury it in you
    Because you're unforgiven too

    Never free
    Never me
    'cause you're unforgiven too
    OH

My all time favourite God hating track has to be another by Metallica....if you read the lyrics they are very relevant to the cult we belonged to....

    The God that failed...

    Pride you took
    pride you feel
pride that you felt when you'd kneel

    not the word
    not the love
not what you thought from above

    it feeds
    it grows
it clouds all that you will know
    deceit
    deceive
    decide just what you believe

I see faith in your eyes
never your hear the discouraging lies
I hear faith in your cries
    broken is the promise, betrayal
the healing hand held back by the deepened nail

    follow the god that failed

    find your peace
    find your say
find the smooth road in your way

    trust you gave
    a child to save
left you cold and him in grave

    it feeds
    it grows
it clouds all that you will know
    deceit
    deceive
    decide just what you believe

I see faith in your eyes
never you hear the discouraging lies
I hear faith in your cries
    broken is the promise, betrayal
the healing hand held back by the deepened nail

    follow the god that failed

I see faith in your eyes
    broken is the promise, betrayal
the healing hand held back by the deepened nail

    follow the god that failed

    pride you took
    pride you feel
pride that you felt when you'd kneel

    trust you gave
    a child to save
left you cold and him in grave

I see faith in your eyes
never you hear the discouraging lies
I hear faith in your cries
    broken is the promise, betrayal
the healing hand held back by deepened nail

    Follow the god that failed…ye-yeah!!
Broken is the promise, betrayal, betrayal, Yeah

I feel as if I have to elaborate on my initial post as I put in albums and not specific songs. Today I’m feeling belligerent and I just listened to Intolerance by Tool. Another good one when I’m in that mood is Judith by A Perfect Circle.

Two excellent choices IMO to destroy your faith by when feeling hostile.
