A teaching they embed that haunts people well after they leave is that there is one true religion. First they hook you with that, then of course they tell you it's them. Even after realizing it isn't them, many people go out in a search for the "REAL" true religion, and waste more precious life trying to find it. Forgetting of course that it was the Watchtower that put them on that course to begin with.

The gossip and the cover-ups when ones like Ray Franz (and many, most or all of us) leave the org; alienating of friends and family, total life control, demonizing people who disagree with the belief system.
Judging, both of every body in the world and in the congregations amongst themselves.
No one who is a JW can ever relax or be, or say what they want or believe for fear of being 'Judged' by someone else.
They live in glass houses and constantly throw stones at eachother.
Their view of women, minorities, and children. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it now.
Substituting the organization for Jesus. For example the way to Jehovah is through His Organization with Jesus seldom mentioned.
The GB and those who follow their lead are oppressive and heavy handed with the congregation, conditioning everyone to be afraid, causing them to constantly gauge themselves against the 'Organizationally Correct' view which causes them to be unnecessarily restrained in their thinking, their speech and their behavior.
The Unfaithul Slave is constantly manipulating and controling God's people with guilt and fear forcing them into living un-nessasarily small lives purely based on their own reasoning.
The Evil Slave has also taken the individuality of everyone away, leaving them as empty shells of the persons they once were.
They also see things in the Bible that aren't there and teach them as Divine Truths.
Their elitist attitude that says you shouldn't associate with non witnesses.
Penalizing people for taking the Golden Rule too seriously. It finally drove me out.
