Has anyone showed this Jan 1, 89 WT to an active witness? What kind of response have you received? Is the 'updated' CD-Rom fobbed off and touted as new light?

A statement that was amended for the bound volumes and CD-ROM. A statement saying that we could expect the end to come "in our 20th Century." Later amended to "in our day" which is incredibly vague.

The word amended isn't right. They intentionaly falsified their record!.....They LIED!!!! Funny...the WTS faults the ancient Egyptians for re-writing their history and then re-writes their own! It's no wonder I cant find evidence of their "Pornia" debacle from the eighties...they no doubt re-wrote that too!

Well, I just have to get this out of my system.

This one little change of words seems to have triggered something in me. I think of the scrutiny they put us under, the constant infiltration of probing in our brains and hearts from attending meeting after meeting. Always asking us to get to the truth and respect the truth.

I think of the people that have come forward to confess sins to judicial committees only to wind up DF with no help and then shunned by the people in the organization. They come to clear their conscience and tell the TRUTH.

Although the WT and AWAKE mags are not the bible, to change the wording in bound volumes and the CD repulses me and shows just how deliberate they are in their deception. I think of the verse in the bible .....about not taking away or adding to......

We have had to expose our mistakes and be shunned for them......been humiliated before our peers and families for our mistakes......I think what they have dished out will come back to them.

There is not even a mention that they changed the wording. A retraction.

This small little thing seems to be the biggest thing to have bugged me.

I remember throwing away all my old books, literature, notes...all the things that were part of my JW experience. I even got rid of book bags and sent suits to Goodwill because I just couldn't stand to have them in the apartment; getting rid of all that stuff was closure on that part of my life and felt so good.

That is just one of hundreds of rewrites and misquotes the WTS has pulled since the days of Russell.

I remembering vehemently arguing with my dad that the WTS would never, never change the wording in newer releases, or bound volumes. He just smiled politely, and when he returned home from his visit, mailed me a large envelope of dozens of examples.

I was gob smacked. As mentioned above. A bunch of lying deceitful bastards.

I agree,

Everyone makes mistakes, but this is a deliberate manipulation to coverup a screwup. It's a whole different game when this happens. I was quite pleased to see this as it lifted a weight off of me.

I am not so scared to talk to the brothers if they should come by.
