    i have nothing to share that already hasn't been posted by other good people who take notes. i don't. i slept as much as possible. one thing that i can say...

    if i hear any of these expressions over the next week, i'll hurl on whoever says them.

    gods earthly organization {substitute jehovah for god for any of these}
    gods spirit directed organization
    gods spirit directed earthy orgaization

    or any version hitherto. i heard so much of it i was sick to my stomach..

    BUT WAIT! NEWS FLASH!
    we had a g.b. member to give three talks. or rather "read" 3 talks.

    ready......?

    none other than c.w. barbour {SP?}
    96 years old, and he shouldnt be giving talks. or reading them either.

    and he draws applause at the end by waving to the audiance.

    with his cane too
    sorta like the pope would do.

    hey, I had Ted Jarasz (sp) at mine. I actually enjoyed his talk and he spoke very well and walked on and off the platform on his own, but with a cane also. He didn't give the keynote address, but he gave the convention summary and the concluding prayer.

    "Brothers and sisters, we thank Jehovah for...and for...and for... and" by this time I had to pee really bad. "And Jehovah we thank you for...and for....and for...." Brother Ted, I gots to pee. Isn't the idea of a concluding prayer to CONCLUDE the convention..."And we thank you Jehovah for...and for...and we ask for strength to resist pornography and other sorts of uncleaness...and for..."

    Aside from standing with my legs crossed, I was imagining brother Ted being forcibly hauled away between 2 big beefy brothers, and another brother at the podium saying.."And now for the conclusion of Brother Jarasz's concluding prayer..."

    Life is a roller coaster. Get in, sit down, shut up and hang on!

    Jaracz was the gb'er at the DC I attended here in SoCal. I was frankly bemused at the tepid reception he received, as gauged by the audience's weakly obligatory applause. This was both on Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps the reception was more enthusiastic on Friday when they made his initial introduction and he gave his first talk of the convention. I wasn't there. Still, I can clearly recall the days when ---even as recently as 1998 when we heard him speak at the international convention in Athens--- the very mention of the name of a governing body member in attendance sent a ripple of excitement and a titter of keen anticipation throughout the delegation. Course that was when there was still some slim hope the end would come within the 20th century. Things have changed.

    Another brief comment regarding the DC program. The friends were perceptibly underwhelmed after Jaracz built up the new TMS guidebook for use starting January, 2003 and then had to inform that he had not even a prototype to put on display. Seemed to be received as a big anticlimatic "then, so what, why mention it?" The following announcement of the release of the new brochure was made so matter-of-factly, with absolutely no attendant build-up that it was received with none of the jubilation one comes to expect to such a wondrous blessing from Jah. No applause, no titter, no nothing.

    Indeed, things have changed. Except, that is, for TJ's closing prayer. He still clocked at about 17 minutes and mostly reviewed the program and reminded of the areas in which everyone needs to improve.

    Some things never change.
