Did You Feel Guilty Because You Couldn't "Do More"?

I've seen pioneers resent the elders, too. Could never figure that one out. I wasn't pioneering.

I pioneered? for 2 years, and my ex did for 10. We resented some of the elders, particularly those who would get up on the platform and encourage young ones? to make sacrifices to pioneer?. Usually these elders were the ones who worked full time, had a big house and fancy car. It was easy for them to encourage others to make the material sacrifices. And then they'd have the gall to stick their noses in your personal financial affairs and counsel you for your financial problems that you were having because you worked part time at some menial low paying job. Such were the blessings? of pioneering?. Walter

I never felt pioneering was such a big deal. (Not a very good example).

I never even got baptized or went into field service and they were still able to constantly make me feel like utter complete shit for not doing enough! My study conductors were always calling me on meeting days encouraging pushing me to go, plus regardless of how cranky my kids were or how tired I was with a newborn, I still had my study because "Armegeddon's right around the corner you know!" I felt like I had to spend all my free time doing something in the name of WT.

God doesn't suck the life out of you, but they sure as hell do.

They view your normal complaints as "a lack of appreciation for Jehovah and His provisions." They make you think you're dissing God Himself!

The elders never left me alone with their "hints" that I should be getting to more meetings, going out in service, writing letters or doing telephone witnessing. They never believed I was really sick or depressed. The cure for every ill was DO MORE, GET TO MORE MEETINGS, GO OUT IN SERVICE, PRAY MORE, MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE!

I truly believe I had a nervous breakdown from this abuse. Good riddance.

Realizing I won't be going for the first time is very strange. I think I'm gonna go out for beer and wings.

A CO said to our young ones that were graduating from high school that they should go right into pioneering and veiw it as another year of school but the best spiritual training they could get...........now dosn't that sound grand............of course out to eight gratuates not one pioneered, guess they did not want to go to spiritual school for another year............most went to college though..and nobody felt guilty. Thats the adittude we should have; DON'T FEEL GUILTY! The kids have it right.......follow their lead..

It's true the elders don't believe that you can't do more. They figure it's easy to do everything you're told to do UNLESS they're sick or tired or overworked. When it hits home for the elders or one in their families, then they might be more tolerant to you.

Yes, I did long ago. Before I came to the realization that many things were wrong not just from a doctrinal standpoint but also with regard to the people. I realized with them it is all or nothing. I also realized that it just didn't "work" - even if you "bought" it all.

The cycle of always being on the go is not healthy for anyone."Smell the roses. Relax. Take it easy.".....Satanic thoughts for JWs.
