The dishonesty of a JW poster

    You were absolutely correct to call GodRules to task in the way you did. While it is clear that there remained the possibility that he/she/it had actually read AlanF's essay, it was his/her/its responsibility to demonstrate that that was the case in its post. Since it merely stated, without supporting evidence, that the essay was "opinion" then it was perfectly logical to conclude that it had either not read the essay or it had not understood it. Thus, by not mentioning the possibility that GodRules had read the essay you were actually doing this creature a favor. Why? Because if GR had read the essay, as it now maintains, then, based on its original response, one can only conclude that GR is either a liar or an idiot.

    The argument that, somehow, documented facts are subject to interpretation or can be dismissed as "opinion" is a favorite tactic of many JWs and also fundies like Rex. This fuzzy view of the world perhaps allows them to comfort themselves in their intellectual abyss, but it, nevertheless, amounts to rank dishonesty especially with themselves.
