I used to watch his show at about two AM when we lived in WV. I never told anybody that I watched him, (you know how JWs feel about watching TV preachers) but he amused me. He sure was one of a kind!

I remember about 15 years ago I was in Los Angeles and I got lost. I look around and see I'm on the street where Dr. Gene Scott's church is. I wanted to go in and say hi, except I was an active JW and I couldn't go into churches. I loved watching him at night. He was very well read and educated. I loved it when he had the bands on and they played really great songs. We'll miss you Dr. Scott!

Good show on the pix, Tres

Oh, "reservations are required" for the services

Casual visiting wasn't encouraged; security reasons, i guess.

Dr. Scott insists that he has no property, investments, stocks or bonds - and that everything he owns is in the name of the church. His contract calls for a $1 annual salary, plus unlimited expenses. He refuses to open the church's books to the scrutiny of independent auditors or follow accounting safeguards. He's defeated repeated attempts by the federal government to examine his church's operations simply by directing contributors to sign pledge slips which specifically state Dr. Scott can spend the money however he likes.

now this is a man after my own heart, this is why i need to start me a church-

He was a shmuck . I watched him back in the 80s , most of his show was about shaking down his followers for money and very little content . Just another christian fundy make believe bites the dust .

I agree with Heathen totally. I'd watch this guy because nothing else was on when I had insomnia; then wonder why I'd wasted my time.

Yea, JT!!! Yup, Scott had brass ballz the size of coconutz!!! You gotta hand him that.

Right, wrong or indifferent in fiscal affairs, he did do some serious scholarship. If you put judgement and prejudice aside, you will find some interesting points in the messages. What I like/liked about them is that it both left off where WTS stopped and put them in their place at the same time.

Also, I could "attend Church" w/out leaving my house. He griped, big-time, about that on the local TV channel
