what looks like weights attached to the bottom, is that some kind of training aid that comes with it?

Yep, it makes it more stable. They were a major pain to put on, but no worries there. I can see I won't be taking them off any time soon! I never got it 6 inches off the ground and rendered it inoperable. I can only imagine what I'll accomplish once I get it in the air!

And Quotes, hang in there. I'll send you all my broken parts and for the investment of a little glue, you'll be able to build your own very soon!!!

Nowhere on the package did it suggest that flying a helicopter in the kitchen was a bad idea. Perhaps I could sue?

I guess that would bring reproach on Simon's name, wouldn't it? Never mind...

Phooey! Illness in the family prevented me from running up to the shop and grabbing them. Hopefully tomorrow.

My digital camera can take short movies, and the way things are going, "short" is all I'll need! When I get a video I'm not embarrassed to show, I'll post it!

    HOORAY!

I finally got the parts to fix my helicopter! You'll recall that I broke it 5 minutes after I started playing with it, and it's now been over a month! The parts came in the mail today, I fixed it up, and began trying again. It was too windy outside, so again I stupidly tried to learn it in the house. Since the kitchen was apparently cursed, I chose to clear out the living room and try it there.

Things went swimmingly. I got to where I could make it wobble across the floor, not quite hovering, turn and wobble back. Around and around I went. Once I got brave and gunned it enough to get off the ground. But I lost confidence immediately and let it drop back to terra floora. And I did let it smack into a box once, knocking the main rotor assembly clean off and scaring me good. But it was just disconnected, not broken.

Even these little baby steps are SO MUCH FUN! I can't wait to get good enough to actually fly the little bugger. The stupid battery takes 2 hours to recharge, so I've got some time yet before I can play again. But believe me, when the battery's ready SO AM I!

    Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
