The rise and fall of my R/C Helicopter! :-(

It's the most money I've spent on a toy since as long as I can remember, a little over $300. I spun it around on the floor a bit (like the video said I was supposed to) and in about 3 minutes of that, I managed to crash it -- into my own leg, no less -- and break off the thingy that holds on the blades. Argh!!! Not just snap it off, of course, but full-blown cracked in two. (My leg was fine, though I would've traded a healthy gash for keeping my heli in one piece!!)

The replacement part is only $10, but it won't be in until Wednesday!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

    But ain't it cute?

    lol, AA mate....

You know.. someone said something very true in the www.rcgroups.com forum not long ago... something along the lines of "these are cherished but temporary toys". I laughed, then realized how true it is.

Hope you enjoyed your 4 minutes of flight time mate, and many more when you get your new part. Unfortunately.. you are going to crash it again... and again... and again... lol. Trust me, I've been there. But, yet again from the RC forum, another paraphrase...

Some guy had practiced and practiced, and had crashed his plane and repaired it a number of times. Then, one day, he came back home with it... again in two... but this time with a smile on his face. When asked why he was grinning so much, he replied "Yes, I crashed, but this time I managed to make a lap of the field".

Just keep practicing and improving mate, and definitely keep us updated!

As the lines goes in the obscure made-for-HBO movie "Head Office" (one of my favorites, btw):

"Our spare parts and repair contracts should be MOST LUCRATIVE"

Bummer. Buy two of those parts, cuz, you know, it could break again. It should be fun once you get the hanf of it.

In the video link, somebody's flying it and all it has are the standard sled-runner thingies at the bottom but the still photo that the video morphs to shows it with what looks like weights attached to the bottom, is that some kind of training aid that comes with it?

    Pretty cool toy there Dave!

Hang in there man, it takes a while to learn to fly one of those. I flew R/C helicopters several years ago but have gone back to planes in my old age. I have been flying for about 35 years and now my brother is flying with me. We have a lot of fun doing this.

Their too hard to fly. If helicopters were ment to fly they would have wings.

I do fly the fixed wing ones and I have a one third pitts special as my next project with a 50cc engine.
