It seems like a great plan to me. Just curious though, how long have you been awake while still going to meetings? As I remember when I first realized that the JW did indeed not have the truth, it was a very scary time but oh so exciting. My whole world opened up to me. It was a feeling of being reborn. I was beside myself with excitment and vigor for the life ahead of me. What a precious time that was. Enjoy this time--to be mentally free even if you are physically still trying to figure out the logistics -is still a great place to be.

15 years, give or take a few months.

That's why I love this place so much. For the past few years, I have been gasping for air wanting to clearly speak out somewhere, anywhere, about the WAY they pollute people's minds. Understanding HOW they do it is the best way to see how to unravel what they do, not just for ourselves but for others as well.

I started a thread with a related question, because I didn't want to hijack this one.

But here is what I have to say - I was disfellowshipped. It was horrible. Painful, humiliating, and well-nigh unendurable. But I gained so much strength from it I can't say that I wish it hadn't happened.

I'm a firm believer in just ripping the Band-aid off. I always say that, though, so it may well be different for other people.

I had to be patient with my wife too, but it paid off. We don't care anymore and we haven't been to a meeting for months now. We'll never go back there. My mother is also thinking of da-ing herself after 20 years in the JW-land.

No worries, Gumby. I agree, I'm lucky. I haven't taken offense at anything you've said to me, I couldn't very well go around calling myself OldSoul if every little panty-twist who wanted to pick a fight got me all knotted up, now could I?

She's not quite there yet, but this was a HUGE step in that direction. Whew!
