For the dubs in my family there is only one way to prove something. That is to show it to them in a society publication. In order to do that you must research online or through CoC, etc. what it is you want to discuss and then have the reference material in your own library because that is all the family will look at.

It may not be ideal, but it works.

    Thelistener is right...

When your family cohesion is at stake, only straight from the horses mouth will do... there is no denying what was said in print...

cut to the chase, and deal with it... This is the only way to discuss important issues with jw's, as any other source is labeled as apostate, evil, wordly, or lies.

Another reason that Quotes website must be preserved and out there.

    HappyDad,

In answer to your question, the watchtower wants to "rewrite history" by using modern technology (cd roms) preportedly to catalog their opinions and dogma...well, problem is, the cd roms have been tampered with and changed to protect the guilty. The only way to prove such is to produce the real thing in paper form, from the original source. This is where the value comes in. Not for monetary gain but to prove the source. It is tangible and valuable as the original source material.

I just bought a My Book of Bible Stories on ebay for 5 bucks shipping included. I guess I just need to look at the first book I ever read and figure out why I blanked it out of my mind until just recently.

Under74.... I just bought it on ebay too for almost the same price. I also bought You Can Live Forever... I had to see these books again and show them to my boyfriend to show him why I'm so screwed up...hehe. My main reason for getting them, though, is because I like to do evil things to the pictures in photoshop...

All that money for an old WT publication?? Wow!! I just go to my local used book store and browse the religious section there. I've gotten one of the Studies in the Scriptures, and the Harp of God for about a buck each. There are many others there for about the same price. Plenty of the Green Bibles too.

I would probably do that if I wasn't embarrassed. If anyone actually saw me forking over cash for the WT books??? I would positively perish.

I bought a mint condition copy of the Paradise book for $20 on Ebay so that I could show my husband the pictures that I used to see as a child , so he could understand just some of the creepy stuff we were told, and saw, when I was a kid in this religion. It's served as a useful tool in showing others, too. But I think when we bought it way back then, it was like $.25 or something. I remember when magazines were $.20 each. Wild.
