    IF THE NIGHT TURNED COLD

    AND THE STARS LOOKED DOWN.

AND YOU HUG YOURSELF ON THE COLD COLD GROUND.

YOU WAKE THE MORNING IN A STRANGER'S COAT.

    NO ONE WOULD YOU SEE.

YOU ASK YOURSELF, WHO'D WATCH FOR ME.

    MY ONLY FRIEND,

    WHO COULD IT BE?

    IT'S HARD TO SAY IT.

I HATE TO SAY IT, BUT IT'S PROBABLY ME.

    WHEN YOUR BELLY'S EMPTY

    AND THE HUNGER'S SO REAL.

AND YOU'RE TOO PROUD TO BEG

    AND TOO DUMB TO STEAL.

    YOU SEARCH THE CITY

    FOR YOUR ONLY FRIEND.

    NO ONE WOULD YOU SEE.

    YOU ASK YOURSELF,

    WHO COULD IT BE?

A SOLITARY VOICE TO SPEAK OUT AND SET YOU FREE.

    I HATE TO SAY IT.

    I HATE TO SAY IT,

    BUT IT'S PROBABLY ME.

YOU'RE NOT THE EASIEST PERSON I EVER GOT TO KNOW.

AND IT'S HARD FOR US BOTH TO LET OUR FEELINGS SHOW.

    SOME WOULD SAY

I SHOULD LET YOU GO YOUR WAY. YOU'LL ONLY MAKE ME CRY.

IF THERE'S ONE GUY, JUST ONE GUY.

WHO'D LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR YOU AND DIE.

IT'S HARD TO SAY IT. IT'S HARD TO SAY IT, BUT IT'S PROBABLY ME.

WHEN THE WORLD'S GONE CRAZY AND IT MAKES NO SENSE.

THERE'S ONLY ONE VOICE THAT COMES TO YOUR DEFENSE.

THE JURY'S OUT AND YOUR EYES SEARCH THE ROOM. AND ONE FRIENDLY FACE IS ALL YOU NEED TO SEE.

IF THERE'S ONE GUY, JUST ONE GUY. WHO'D LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR YOU AND DIE.

ITS HARD TO SAY IT. I HATE TO SAY IT, BUT IT'S PROBABLY ME.

I HATE TO SAY IT. I HATE TO SAY IT, BUT IT'S PROBABLY ME.

I always hold open doors and pull out chairs for broads.

Holding open doors and giving up seats is just good manners. If I was seated on a crowded bus or train and saw someone who needed a seat more than me, be it another woman or a man, I would give up my seat. Sitting in a car waiting for your male escort to race around and open your door and help you out is ridiculous behaviour in any able bodied adult.

Chivalry by definition as courteous behaviour by a man towards a woman is sexist. Men and women should be courteous to men and women.

I have pondered about the act of helping a woman put her coat on. If you saw an adult woman helping an adult man put his coat on, what impression would you get? Only my husband ever does that for me, and I do like it when he does. I would not appreciate my male boss, a male relative or anyone else doing it. I think it represents a form of intimacy, and is a proprietary gesture that is special between us.

Although pre-programed to respond to the needs of a woman, whether she be my wife, a neighbor down the street, a stranger in a super market. Social graces and ettiqute are the rule of the day, everyday.

I would deem myself as less than a man if any woman were to get on a vehicle of public transport and have to stand because of men, scratch that, blokes refused to give up their seat. It is unconscienable. And though I would agree that it borders on silliness for a man to race around the car in order to upon the door for m'lady, I do feel that he should oblige himself out of courtesy, to open the car door for her when she enters.

I take it even a step further, all though this may be viewed as really silly, upon opening the car door, insuring that she's in, I will not walk around the front of the car, so as to have her to be forced to view my rear end crossing her field of vision, but will walk behind the car so she is not offended by my bum. I enter the car from behind, not from in front of the car.

Women who I may cross paths with in the supermarket, are always yielded to, I will move out of the way until she crosses.

Also the language issue, and though many of us are no longer in the hall, I try very hard to ensure that I do not use foul language, regardless. You never know when our seniors and elders are within earshot of our verbal invectives. Manners are not required in America anylonger, but it would surely be an easier place to live in if we tried using them more.

If she is driving, do you help her get in and out of the car? If you saw a man sitting in a car waiting for his female companion to open the door for him, what would your impression be? What if he was waiting for a man to open the door for him?

BTW Prophecor, I am sure your bum isn't at all offensive!

See, that's were chivalry is no longer part of the equation, and I go back to being chauvinist, when I'm in the car, I'm doing the driving!!!
